BULWELL FC
23 Jun 2011

BULWELL FC were formed in August 2006 in the NOTTS AMATEUR ALLIANCE PREMIER DIVISION.

The club is run by people who have a passion for football, With a wealth of experience at the grass roots level.

A Committee was formed and the running of the club is ALWAYS put to the vote of the BOARD.

The Club has estabalised itself both on and off the field in a short space of time.

Yet we are still looking at progressing further and entering into the higher standard of football as soon as possible.

This would mean a change of facilities at our current stadia, this is due to the venue not having the correct criteria in place and is also due to close next season for renovation (River leen school).

The playing members of the club are mostly from in and around the BULWELL AREA (90%) with a few faces from other areas of nottingham.

The season 2006/2007 the clubs intentions were to stabalise itself, then hopefully attract some of the better standard players to compete well in the following league campaign.

The season was a very successful one with us reaching the NOTTS FA INTERMEDIATE CUP FINAL (Runners Up), and winning the League Title in our first season together. This achievement has exceeded all expectations from all involved within the club. The arrival of several new signings proved to be a masterstroke as they fitted in like they had been with us for years, this creating a very good dressing room and beyond.

After a rocky start to the season we really started to put in some excellent performances. especially in our cup campaign, defeating no less than 4 sides from the Central Midlands Leagues on our way to the final, only to be beaten but not ashamed by Blidworth Welfare (CML Premier Division)as many of the neutrals watching stated that the best side lost on that evening at Hucknall Town FC.

Many have said we are the best FOOTBALLING side in the Notts Amateur Alliance league, But that doesn't mean you are going to be the winners, and to the players credit they just took in thier stride and continued to play some attractive football and put in the hard work and continue to have a good team ethic which is whats required to gain SUCCESS.

2007/2008 season was another successful one with us retaining the NAA Premier Division title. it was almost a perfect campaign for us with us going 27 unbeaten (all wins) only to lose our last fixture. we also done well in both cup competitions falling in the semi finals of the league cup & quarter finals of the NFA Intermediate cup.

2008 / 2009 saw us accepted into the Higher Standard of Amateur football with the NOTTS SENIOR LEAGUE, we begin our tenure with the league in division one of a three tier league structure.

we as a club are still striving for bigger and better things for the club not just on the field but also off the field with the committee working hard behind the scenes to achieve what the club desires, arranging fundraising evenings and the general duties on match days. we relocated to Greenwich Avenue, Basford for our home fixtures and a ground share has been agreed with Basford Uniteds Chris Munroe for the forthcoming season.
we have again been crowned League Champions in our first season in the Notts Senior League and look forward to promotion to the Senior Division,

2009 / 2010 we have added a reserves side this season and hopefully further enhance the club with the attraction of more players.

The first team more than held there own against some very good opposition, and finished a respectful 7th, the reserves finished in very impressive 5th position.

2010 / 2011

The club managed to attract a few high profile players for the forthcoming season, however it was soon apparent these players were way ahead of the rest and the football at times was lacking any positivity due to the communication between the squad being way off the mark. As the season progressed the players seemed to dwindle away leaving the club barely able to field the necessary two teams of 11 to fulfill there fixtures. The reserves were hit the most with several players being drafted into the first team to accomodate the loss, leaving manager brett Charles with bare bones to select from and having to continuously sign players on on matchdays to field 11 players. the first team eventually finished in a lowly 13th from 16 clubs & the reserves finishing 13th from 15 clubs. All in all a very poor season that ended with the initally resigning from all competitions.

2011 / 2012

A new management team has been fromed with the very succesful pairing of Terry Witts & Steve Osbourne taking over the reigns, The club have also relocated to pastures new on the facilties side moving to the very impressive Basil Russell playing fields in Nuthall. however the reserves side has been dispanded due to the lack of player availabilty last season.
The club on a whole are looking at certainly improving on 13th position and a few new faces will hopefully be on board for the seasons kick off on saturday 13th August 2011.
