Christians shock Division A

Christians had lost two influential players in goalkeeper Peter Haighton and centre back David Rees. Keeper Adam Sadler rejoined the team to replace Peter Haighton. Experienced players Jon Doyle and Stuart Gould were brought in from Edale and Harpur and David Slack also rejoined the team.

After being promoted from Division B many people had Christians down as the whipping boys and expected us to fall back down a division. Christians had other ideas and were top of the league after the two opening games.

October saw Christians in poor form with only one win in four games. One of these games saw us embarrassed with a Derbyshire Cup exit vs Division B side Baslow.
November saw Christians coming back to form and were unbeaten this month.
From January we went on a great 11 game unbeaten run in the league.

We finished 3rd in the league and earned promotion to the Premier Division. After a good run we were defeated in the Semi Final of the Cliff Ellis Cup.
Overall it has been a good season for Buxton Christians and our performances have made the other clubs think twice about writing us off.
We are looking forward to the challenge of the Premier Division!
