Buxton Vikings 5 Ashover 4
Expectations were high for Buxton after a fantastic start to the season, but this game brought them down to earth. Before they had really got going the Vikings found themselves 2-0 down. A pep talk at half time reminded the Vikings what they were there for and a fantastic goal from Holmes brought them back into the game. Then a goal from Baggaley made it 2-2. Ashover really tested the Vikings defence but tenacious tackling from Tomlinson Booth McDonald and Gannon held well, but even this could not stop Ashover grabbing 2 more goals, 4-2 down with 10 minutes to go. Then the desire kicked in and they hit Ashover with everything. A corner from Holford found Baggaley who hit home for his second, and a well taken free kick from Holmes found the back of the net. With seconds left Buxton had one last attack and with virtually the last kick of the game Griffin hit home to finish off a brilliant come back for the Vikings to make it 3 wins in a row.
