The Braves were quickly out of the blocks and it wasn’t long before Joey Hollamby and Josh Gill had shots into the side netting. Good defensive work from Tom Wager and McKenzie Bennett kept Matlock at bay, but on 9 minutes the Braves broke free and Hollamby let rip with a fine shot into the corner of the goal to give the Braves the lead.
James Tighe was making some fantastic crunching tackles in midfield and man of the match Charlie Edwards was making some incisive running up the left wing. Towards the end of the first half, Noah McCahill had a great attempt just pushed past the post and Gill and Adam Twigg also had efforts go just wide.
The Braves stepped up a gear in the second half and it wasn’t long before it was 2-0. Edwards made a tremendous run up the left who crossed to Gill to calmly slot home. Max Graham and Tighe were running the midfield, and were both unlucky not to score with shots going just wide. Matlock fought back and Charlie Craven was ever reliable in goal and kept all attempts out with Wager, Bennett and McCahill getting the tackles in to thwart Matlock. The Braves could see Matlock tiring and in the late stages of the match, Twigg notched up another goal with a fine shot and Graham was there for the fourth to round off another great performance for The Braves
Man of the match, sponsored by Balfe Building Contractors Ltd was Charlie Edwards
