Report

The Dragons travelled to unbeaten league leaders Tansley looking to continue their excellent recent form. It was a great game of junior football which, with a little more luck, could have easily finished with a Dragons victory. 15 mins in and with Dragon's keeper Jack Gould injured, Tansley took the lead as the striker passed the ball past the stranded keeper. Bradshaw went in goal with Mellor moving up front. The Dragons were really taking the game to Tansley with the defence of Matt, James G, Jacob and Jamie all comfortable. In midfield Joe, Rhys and Dom in the centre were frustrating Tansley as it was they who were playing the football, tracking back brilliantly when needed. On the wings Ben and Ethan found the space to play and pushed hard for the equaliser. It came from a fine shot from Stephen to give the lads confidence. Tansley did have breaks which were mainly dealt with but occasionally Bradshaw saved well to keep the scores level. As the game moved in to the final 15 mins it was the Dragons who looked the stronger and more likely to score with the introduction of Ollie and Adam adding fresh legs at a crucial time. Jack came back on for the final 5 mins to allow Bradshaw to support Bagshaw and Mellor and some great play down the left almost created the winner but the ball just fell behind Mellor allowing Tansley to clear up field which their striker pounced on the give Tansley the lead with 4 mins to go. 2 mins later they added a third which looked suspiciously offside as the striker tapped in 5 yards out.

Overall this was a fantastic display by the Dragons as they outplayed Tansley for the majority of the game, only to fall right at the end, for the second week running. The recent improvement shows the lads are working really hard for each other and I was really proud of them all today. Well Done.
