Caerwys 3 Point of Ayr 2
Caerwys remain in second spot in Division 1 after a hard fought win over the pitmen. New signing from Holywell Town Gareth Henley produced a man of the match performance with a superb hatrick on his debut which gave his team a 3-0 cushion, the pick of the bunch his third goal on 47 mins when he turned his marker on the edge of the box to rifle an unstoppable shot into the top right hand corner of the net. Caerwys could not maintain their dominance from the first half as the visitors changed gear in the last half hour and it was no surprise when dangerman Darren Hughes pulled a goal back. Point of Ayr continued to push as Caerwys sat too far back at times conceding possession too easily. Sub Simon Bower scored a second on 78 mins which raised his team's hopes but the Caerwys defence stood firm to take the points. Danny Williams nearly made it 4-2 near the end but his lob over the keeper bounced back off the bar. With Nicky Voyle to come back into the side Caerwys could well be in with a shout of some honours at the end of the season. Mike Henley will be a doubt for next week's trip to Rhos Utd following a strained hamstring.
