Caldecote Young Boys FC was formed in 1994 playing a season of friendlies before joining the Bedfordshire Sunday League the season after. The clubs stability has always been based upon a strong committee and that is even more evident now as the committee led by Chairman Paul Oakins now numbers 12. This stability has stretched onto the pitch and CYBFC are proud of the fact they have only ever had 2 first team managers, initially Mick Jeeves, still heavily involved in the club and the present boss Kevin Smyth who has been assisted by Paul Oakins for several years and this partneship has guided the YB's to the highest division they have reached since its inception, just below the premier division. Past results on the pitch have fluctuated but despite several promotions Caldecote have never picked up a league title, with two runners up positions being the best they have managed. Trophies have escaped them in the cups competitions also, as they have been twice beaten semi finalists in 1999 and 2002. Finally the club managed some silverware on 22nd April 2007 lifting the Brian Craddock league cup (ironically on the then Chairman Ken Sizers' birthday). The club would not be in its excellent state without the work of Honorary life member Frank Jenner who formed the club and worked tirelessly for years as secretary and treasurer. Mick Jeeves has also been in it from the start, with manager, putting up the nets and goals, marking the pitch, washing the kit and prepairing the after match food just some of the jobs Mick has taken on. The past Chairman of several years Ken Sizer has also kept the club on an even footing running the committee like clockwork, however sadly in Jan 08 Ken passed away aged just 53, leaving a huge hole not just in our club but in the entire village.
The YB’s rely heavily on sponsorship and Kumar of the local Caldecote Store and Pete of Jade Garden restaurants have kindly given plenty of their hard earned cash over to facilitate new kits and training tops when required. The clubs successes has meant the addition of a reserve team which started 4 years ago and is now managed by Trevor Pomfrey with the help of Graham Weddell. The reserves are proudly sponsored by Mr Weddell senior of Vehicle and General Polishing and Plating Ltd.
