Lilywhites Victorious in Wilts Senior Cup.

Calne Town of the Toolstation Western League Div. 1 defeated Wessex Premier League outfit Bemerton Heath Harlequins at Chippenham Towns Hardenhuish Park on Saturday in the final of the Wiltshire FA Senior Cup.

Calne started well attacking down the slope and earned a well deserved penalty in the 1st minute when Tyler Sibbick collected a through ball from Jordan Roberts and was taken down by Bemerton’’s Graham Mankin.

After the inevitable yellow card, Sibbick scored from the spot to give the Liywhites the lead.

The following 20 minutes was end to end play then a Sibbick touch to Levi Cox saw the latter bury the ball in the back of the net to double Calne’s lead. 10 minutes later, the Calne shot stopper, Steve Allison, had to make a couple of good saves to prevent the opposition from getting on the score board.

In the 39th minute, Danny Young pulled a goal back for Bemerton as they continued the pressure on the Calne goal. Calne should have gone further ahead a minute before the break when in a goal mouth scramble, Calne’s Craig Kent fired over from 3 yards.

After the break, both teams “had a go” but with Bemerton playing down hill, it was going to be time for the Calne defence to do their job.

Bemerton were definitely now on top but Calne were getting a few breaks but in the 77th minute, Calne’s Levi Cox crossed a superb ball for

Dan Lardner to bury but his shot missed the goal by inches.

In the mean time, Calne’s keeper was making some very good saves to keep the Lilywhites lead intact.

In the 80th minute, a Tyler Sibbick cross to Levi Cox in the middle and on to a rushing Kyle Rigley on the right, ende with the latter firing straight at the Bemerton Keeper, Fred Toomer.

Bemerton kept up the pressure on the Calne defence but it was the Lilywhites who came home victorious.
