10 man Champions continue 10 match unbeaten run with a 3-0 victory over UWIC!!!
15 May 2011

An important win over a resilient UWIC side made sure that Corries kept up their 10 match winning streak this Saturday in the Central Reserve League even though they went down to 10 men in the second half. After going 1-0 up within the first 20 minutes of the game after a mazy run down the wing by Lloyd and a great finish by Kareem Leigh the Corries sat back a liittle bit. UWIC came back into the game and created some good chances themselves before Mike Nessbett created himself some space on the edge of the area and fired home an unstopable shot to make it 2-0 to Corries.Half time beckoned and the Corries went in 2-0 up with a great first half display under their belts. The team pressed on in the second half and played some great football before going down to 10 men for a soft yellow card offence. This spurred the Corries on and in Mike Thomas, a Youth Player, they managed to beat the keeper with a well struck shot into the roof of the net after a melley of shots and headers were cleared off the line. This put Corries 3-0 up now so they made a few substitutions but found it hard to get another goal even though with 10 men they still created chances.
A clean sheet was important and corries defended really well to see the game out and get a further 3 points. Another great TEAM effort utilising the SQUAD and showing the character and unity they have together proved to much for UWIC and showed why Corries are the Leagues Champions for the Central Division in the 2010-2011 Season. Well done lads were ALL very proud of you and what you achieved this Season !!!
