The Caribbean Cavillers entered into the 2005/06 season's NSL after winning the MAA Premier Division title for the fourth successive year. Recently based at the ever improving Carrington sports ground in Mapperley Park, the club have enjoyed long spells in local amateur football and posses three senior teams.
It was March 1978 at a football match in the Meadows area of Nottingham. There was a discussion between three local men of west Indian origin one of them by the name of Leroy Wallace said why don’t we form a local football team to play on a Saturday afternoon?. Leroy suggested that if we form a team, we may be able to get some experienced players from Mapperley Mephs and Clumber FC to help out. A committee was formed consisting of Leroy Wallace, Karl white, Bernard Liburd, Vince Edwards, Ronnie Brown and Cladge Ward. They all put £10 each towards the cost to form the team and to buy some kit. The players all brought their own shorts. The team was formed and called Queens Walk FC.
The team was made up of youths from the local Queens Walk Youth Club. The youths would go to watch Nottingham Forest on a Saturday afternoon to occupy their time. After the team was formed, they would not get into a Saturday league so they played in the Sunday friendly league for three seasons. In the 4th season the name was changed to British Caribbean’s and they joined the Notts Combination League. After another four seasons in this league, the club joined the Nottingham Spartan League because the Notts Combination League folded.
After three seasons in the Sparton League, the team changed its name again, this time to Caribbean Cavaliers. Back then the team was sponsored by M&E Builders (Martin Morris). After the Spartan League folded in 1996, the club joined the Midland Amateur Alliance League. During the first 20 years the majority of the clubs players came from the Meadows area of Nottingham. When the team started training at the Hyson Green Youth Club, they had a lot of players from the Radford and Hyson Green areas wanting to join the team.
The club had some lean years in the M.A.A, but things started to change after Everton Richards joined the club and eventually took over the manager’s role in 1998.
During this time the club have won the M.A.A Senior Cup twice and runners up once. They won the M.A.A Senior Division title for four consecutive years including the double in 2004/5. In the year 2000, the club started a reserve team made up of players from Hyson Green U/16 players which included Deon Meikle who went on to play for Esatwood Town.
When the club first started, they played at the Victoria Embankment in the Meadows. The club was then forced to move from the Embankment and ended up playing at the Wilford Sports Complex on Wilford lane. Nottingham Forest brought the site to set up their football academy, Cavaliers had to move again. The club moved to Alford Road in West Bridgford for one season, before moving to the current ground, which is the Carrington Sports Ground (Formerly the old Police Sports Ground), off Mapperley Hall Drive in Carrington.
The move to this ground started off the of successfull period that Cavaliers are still enjoying into this season 2007/8.
