Formation of Cawood & Wistow United JFC
Over the last year or two, both Cawood and Wistow junior football clubs have struggled to secure the squad sizes required to support league teams at one age group or another. It is a problem encountered for many small village clubs on the transition to the 11-a-side game and the U12's teams from the two villages had already combined forces for the 2007-8 season to secure their future.

At the end of the 2007-8 season the problem became more acute as each village had insufficient numbers to field the next rising 11-a-side team and was excacerbated by the younger teams struggling with squad sizes too. It was then decided that the clubs should merge rather than let certain teams fold altogether and other squads continue to field teams comprising players from several different age groups.

The combined coaching resources and player numbers from the merged clubs now looks healthy and will be fielding formidable teams at each age group for 2008-9 season.

The simple, but self-explanatory name for the new Club has been decided and the future now looks bright for all.
