Ajax travelled to struggling Khalsa looking to bounce back from a poor performance last week. Good football was always going to be difficult on a pitch with grass as long as this but the boys were encouraged to play their usual passing game.
Ajax started strongly and had Khalsa pressed back in their own half. Jonny and Jackson were causing problems for the home side with Dan also pushing forward on the left. Khalsa created a couple of chances themselves but Adam, Zach and Alex were all protecting Charly very well. Ajax took the lead midway through the half when Jonny finished well after good work from Dan. Rory and Joe had come on to add attacking options as Ajax looked to increase their lead. However, the lads were not playing too well and added to a good defensive performance from Khalsa we couldn't add to the scoring before half-time.
HT Khalsa 0, Ajax 1.
The second half saw Ajax push on to add to their lead. The approach play was better and we did create a lot of chances. Adam got a 2nd with Rory getting a 3rd quickly after. The Khalsa 'keeper was in fine form and kept the Ajax attack at bay. Some very poor finishing added to our frustrations though Joe did score a 4th goal before the end. A one sided second half where Charly had nothing to do in goal - perhaps we should have given him a lawnmower!
FT Khalsa 0, Ajax 4.
A mixed perofrmance. I'm not sure everyone approached this game with the right attitude. Credit to Khalsa who were difficult to break down for the first 30 minutes. Lots of chances created at the end but we need to finish them better.
MoM - Dan gets the award with Alex close behind. Both did as they were asked and started our attacks from the back in the second half whilst others forgot it was a team game.
