1st team history

The first team played in South Section division 1 (there were North, Central and South sections) from 1937 until 1973/4. The best league position during this period was runners up in 1953/4.

After 1973/3 The league structure was changed to Premier, 1st, 2nd and 3rd divisions. The 1st team were placed in Division 1 and were champions in the first season, 1974/5.

The 1st team played in the Premier league until 1981/2 when they were relegated to Division 1.

After several seasons in Division 1, the team were relegated to Division 2 in 1990/1 but were promoted back to Division 1 the following season as runners up.

In 1993/4 the team were promoted back to the Premier League as champions and have remained in the Premier League since.

In season 2003/4 the 1st team won the 1st XI challenge cup a feat they repeated in 2007/8.
