ROSE HILL(H) 31-3-2012
Chapel went into this re-arranged fixture without 2 of their key players George and Roy , a big robust side awaited them and a stern test it would prove to be, The home side started the livelier and Theyer stormed forward from the back only to be thwarted by an excellent Rose Hill keeper who was tremendous during both games, just 30 seconds later and a chance at the other end a massive kick went straight over the back line and was placed just wide, Thompson was then crowded out after he was first to react to a loose ball in the area, but he wasn’t to be denied when from a corner in the 6th minute he showed great instinct to apply a finish in front of the keeper.
Straight from the kick off Bloom robbed the ball in midfield and went round the last defender to shoot hard and low across the keeper, The only other chances in the half both came from Fovdog corners firstly AJ was blocked as he tried to bundle home at the back post then Ashy’s side foot volley was saved superbly
2-0 h/t
This half was mostly a midfield battle ,good football by Chapel saw Fovs cross was well held in the Rose Hill goal another long kick saw Jimmy have to make a cracking save low down showing strong hands and pushing ball wide, then Bloom was unlucky to see a lob fall just wide and Ryan got down the line well and shot just wide when with 3 team-mates unmarked int he box, he was also very unfortunate to see another driven shot go just wide after clipping the post, Rose Hill got a much deserved goal in the final minute when their unmarked left winger fired high into the net at the back post.
2-1 Full Time
This was a spirited and hard fought victory for Chapel as they were not at their best today but showed desire and fight against a good side, a special mention must go to Louis who did a great job in font of defence constantly heading the ball away from some huge goal kicks.
2nd Game
Chapel were under the cosh for the most of the early parts of this game but in the 9th minute Storer fed the lively Rowlands who calmly placed the ball past the advancing keeper this seemed to bring life to the home side and again a cross from Storer saw the keeper go bravely at Theyer’s feet and push out for a corner and from that corner Theyer saw his shot blocked on the line. An equaliser then arrived when a good ball to the striker was finished well
1-1 h/t
Storer again was chapel’s lynchpin and showed strength and guile on the half way line to feed the free running Maximus who was clean through took his time and finished with aplomb into bottom corner, the Rose hill striker then equalised with a crashing volley from 25 yards and it has to be said was much deserved . Chapel almost snatched a win when the Hammer Ashton’s free kick was brilliantly tipped over the bar by a very impressive Rose Hill keeper.
