Charlton & District FC was formed on the 1st June 2007 by a group of volunteers wishing to provide children aged five and over regular training and, where possible under FA regulations, regular matches through a local league. These initial volunteers were from the local town of Banbury, as were the majority of the first players but, as the club grew, more players joined from the surrounding villages of Farthinghoe, Deddington, Adderbury, Kings Sutton and of course the home of the club, Charlton. As its players came from a number of different areas, the club became “Charlton & District FC”.
Our club badge consists of a Phoenix and a Blacksmith’s Anvil. The Phoenix is the sign of re-generation or re-birth. This was chosen as the club was born from another which originated in Banbury. The Anvil was chosen to represent the club’s new home, as Charlton was renowned in the past for its local Blacksmiths .
