On a wet pitch, which got wetter as the night went on, we lined up against grendon who on league position would have been slight favouites. We didn't start as tardy as we do sometimes but grendon did play the better and their unmarked left back scored the opening goal after ten minutes. We weren't without chances ourselves and coxy and matt were finding lots of space behind their back four. One of coxy's long throws, and a flick from dan saw keith just shoot wide. On a difficult night for any goalkeeper, a ball knocked in from a corner was mishandled, (yes i do mean dropped) by Will and one of their players poked the ball home. 2-0 at half time. A good chat at half time we changed our formation and within the first couple of minutes of the restart a glorious through ball from keith released coxy who finished well. Now grendon were on the back foot and chance after chance came our way with matt and ryan having good chances to finish the game. It was a while in coming but another through ball from keith this time released ryan who this time found the back of the net. Matt and andy made way for chris and steve and it was there presence that resulted in mike scoring our third goal. Grendon came back at us and our defensive had to be strong, tom mike, dan and jonny were at their best. With just a couple of minutes to go sub graham who hadn't been on long conceeded a freekick twenty yards out. The well struck shot looked like it was going in but Will made amends for his earlier error by pushing the ball away at full stretch. 3-2 the final score. Mike was awarded the man of the match by the league officals but there quite a few on our side who could have won it.
