Report

This was our last game of the season. A number of our players were also moving on after this game and it also marked my last game in charge of Chelmsford Orient. The match was against Rayne Youth who we had drawn with 3-3 in the first league game of the season. Rayne have faired better than us in their first season in division 1 and had drawn 1-1 with the champions Focus Ferrers Falcons during the week.

We kicked uphill in the first half and looked solid for 25 minutes unfortunately a lapse of concentration saw us go 1-0 down and within a minute of that goal we found ourselves 2-0 down. Our hard work was destroyed in two minutes. Half time 0-2.

Although two goals behind we thought we would be in with a chance kicking downhill in the second half.

To Rayne-s credit they came out for the second half with alot more heart and spirit than us. Although they were kicking uphill in difficult rainy conditions they proved they were a better side on the day and scored 3 times before we got on the scoresheet with a goal from Billy. Rayne finished off the scoring with 30 seconds to go, to win the game 6-1.

This game probably summed up the season as a whole. Good in places but just not quite good enough at this level.

I would like to thank all of the players for their efforts but especially Charlie, Billy, Tommy, Jordan and Bradley who were with me from the start. Thanks to all of the parents for their support over the past three seasons. Chelmsford Orient will carry on and I would like to wish Steve and Vince good luck for next season. Thanks again.
