Well, where do I start? Perhaps with the result? Chelmsley Town win the Shield following the disqualification of Alvechurch and Rowney for fielding an inelligible player.
This is absolutely not the way that we would have wanted to win. The rules of the competition are clear though, and A and R broke the rules. However you choose to "judge" their actions let it not be forgot that Lewis Moss and Scott Mooney were not allowed to play in this game, forcing me to play players in positons that they have not played in before. However well those players played I was not able to field my strongest side. The rules are there for a reason and I was not prepared to bend or break them. Even though there is doubt about the (non) eligibility of Lewis I was not prepared to take the chance that might cost the team and the club the trophy. We have played through this season with pride and dignity and I am proud of the way we have conducted ourselves. I deliberately will not judge the actions of our opponents but I do believe that the actions of the league are correct. Rant over!
During the game an A and R player suffered a serious injury. The thoughts and best wishes of my team, myself and all at Chelmsley Town go out to that boy. We wish him a speedy recovery and particularly that he is able to join his team mates on their planned trip to America.
