There is no denying that sometimes being a football manager is a real joy. At other times it is a complete proctalgia (look it up). This was a time of great joy. "How many we got MOss" asks the player. "Ten", says I. "Ok" says the player, and on to the field they go. Not a grumble. Not a word about those who are not present. Just a stoical attitude that says it all. Every single one of the 10 who satrted the game gets a personal thank you from me. Then we have the 11th player. Having been out for 10 weeks, Luke Craig comes along to watch the game. I knew he was coming and had named him - just in case. He turns up in his Sunday best, further thing from his mind is playing! Now do not forget, the last time I asked this lad to do me a favour and play for me. He got his ankle broken! He has not played since. Can you imagine what went through his mind when I uttered the dreaded words? NOt a moan, not a grumble. "Got no boots or kit Moss" So I got them out of the back of the car. Lent him gear and on he came 20 minutes into the game. He played the next 70 minutes without a murmur and most of that time his ankle was hurting and the rest of his body was killing! No matter. A monumental effort saw us take all three points from the game, with each of the 11 players doing more than any manager could ever ask. Heroes all. Thanks lads.
