Report

This was a largely forgettable match. We were never in it, and created very few chances. The first opportunity in this match came on the 8^th minute, after we had cleared a United free kick for a corner. The resulting corner was cleared by Dylan Moreno who was playing in midfield. On the 15^th minute, they had a shot that went wide of our goal. On the 18^th minute, Michael Birkett palmed away a dangerous United free kick. A minute later, Michael was again called into action. This time he did brilliantly to come out and block a shot that was on target. On the 20^th minute, we had our first attempt at their goal. Isven Effigenio was played through, but their defender did just enough to force him to shoot wide. On the 22^nd minute, Dylan Moreno had a shot at their goal which was cleared for a corner. The corner was taken by Lee Thomas but was cleared by their defence. On the 28^th minute, United had a shot from distance that was saved by Michael Birkett. On the 31^st minute, they took the lead. The United player got behind our defence, and shot across Michael giving him no chance. On the 37^th minute, Jesus Campos took a free kick from near the centre line. The kick was headed by Dylan Moreno towards Isven Effigenio, but the keeper was first to the ball. On the 43^rd minute, they had a great shot on target that was superbly saved by Michael Birkett who punched the shot away for a corner. Unfortunately the corner was met by one of their players who headed it in, giving them a 2-0 lead.

The second half saw us make a tactical switch as we had no substitutes. Dani Campos moved from the centre of the defence to his usual centre midfield position. Shane Rocca moved into the centre of the defence.

On the 3^rd minute, Jesus Campos took a free kick that was met by Israel Weaving. His shot went wide. A minute later, Lee Thomas took a free kick that was headed away by the United defence. On the 8^th minute, one of their players found space in our area and came up with a great shot from close range that was met by a fantastic save from Michael. On the 11^th minute, they had a shot that went over our crossbar. Three minutes later they had another shot with the same outcome. On the 19^th minute, they scored their best goal of the match, as their player got past two of our defenders and shot past Michael. Dylan Moreno then had to come off injured and we were down to ten players. They regained possession straight from the kick off and had a shot that hit our post. On the 30^th minute, Michael Birkett denied them another goal as he parried a shot from distance to clear it for a corner. the corner came to nothing. On the 31^st minute, Dani Campos had a shot that was just off target. On the 37^th minute, their player got behind our defence and shot across Michael to make it 4-0. On the 44^th minute, the match took a turn for the worse as Lee Thomas got sent off for retaliating after one of their player kicked out at him. Both players were sent off. It is a very unfortunate incident for Lee as the sending off means he will miss the Second Division Cup final. A minute later, the referee blew for full time.
