CHILLI SAVE THEIR BEST PERFORMANCE OF THE SEASON FOR THE CURTAIN CALL!
Subsidiary Cup Semi Final
CBFC 2 Queens FC 5
Jordan Ruscoe 33
Matt Fairhurst 69
Chilli Banana FC's past results against Queens of Bollington don't read particularly well. But with Chilli posted as firm underdogs (especially with the game being played on their opponents home pitch), it was they who came closest to opening the scoring in the sixth minute as Matt Fairhurst hit the underside of the bar when he raced through on goal.
Five minutes later the favourites took the lead.
The Banana Boys responded well and dominated large periods of the play. Chances for Jordan Ruscoe and Josh Williamson were spurned. It was noticeable Chilli were matching their Premier League opponents as the terraces on the home sideline became remarkably muted!
Jordan Ruscoe equalised in the 33rd minute finishing well after a mazy Josh Williamson run down the left flank.
A tight tight angled shot made it 1-2 at Half Time. A scoreline in which Chilli richly undeserved.
Chilli went further behind after 63 minutes but were quick to respond five minutes later through Matt Fairhurst nodding home Jimmy Baskerville's glided freekick. 2-3
A disallowed goal three minutes later left a bitter taste in the mouth.....numerous text messages after the game from eyewitnesses could explain why!
Then bad tackles without bookings (after two previous warnings) left even more salt in the wound, and it was no surprise that the aggressor eventually had the last laugh ten minutes from time to make it 2-4.
The game was over. The season was over. But the signs were there for all to see.........
Chilli Banana Football Club certainly isn't over!
F/T 2-5
