The Club is delighted to announce that our Sunday Team has reached the Final of the Terry Cattermole Trophy. The Final will be taking place at Accrington Stanley on Sunday 27th April with a 2pm Kick-off

Formation of the Club

Church Town Football Club was formed as a result of a group of just nine 'lads' who
had just finished secondary school.

Despite going their separate ways to College, starting jobs and beginning Apprenticeship's etc they wanted to continue playing football together.

The 'lads' decided that playing 7-A-Side Football would be the best option as they would be gauranteed to field a team on a weekly basis and they would also all be able to take part in a game.

The 'lads' decided to enter the local Akash Sunday 7 A-Side Winter League run by the Hyndburn Sports Centre.

The application form was filled in and two of the 'lads' on their Friday off went down to the Hyndburn Sports Centre on Henry Street in Church near Accrington to register the club.

It was at this point they were asked to name the team, which they did, Church Town
(how imaginative?!).

The Club was accepted into the league and was given its very first set of fixtures for the Winter of 1997/98.

The Club competed in the 1st Division of the Akash Sunday 7-A-Side Winter League for three seasons until it was decided that as the Club was now beginning to sign new players and a number of people couldn't play in our games maybe a second team was needed.

Unfortunately after seeing the cost of playing in the
7-A-Side League and also the shortage of Teams (due to a major rise in costs)for the 2001/02 Season the Club's new manager Mr A McCormack opted to apply to join the Sunday Memorial 11-A-Side Football League.

After writing and speaking to all of the players it was agreed that the Club would apply for entry into the Memorial Sunday League.

In June 2001 the Club's application for the Memorial League was accepted and a major step forward was taken by the football Club.
