Women's Eastern Region League Division One South

The 2010-11 season was a start of a new era for C & K Basildon, as they entered the Women’s Eastern Region Division One South, after being promoted as champions of the Essex County Women’s League.

It was a step into the unknown, as most of the teams the ladies had never played against. But the season got off to a great start with a home win against Leverstock Green. Further wins against Hoddesdon Owls and Whitwell saw the ladies at the top of the table, a lead that they kept for the remainder of the season, with a maximum nine points from their first three fixtures.

The only hiccup to the league season then came with successive draws, but the ladies soon got their season back on track with wins against Hoddesdon Owls, Leverstock Green and Hannakins, which took the ladies up to the Christmas break.

It was the end of January before the ladies played their first fixture of 2011, a home win against Royston, which was quickly followed by a narrow win against Hannakins. The ladies then had a vital away win at third placed Hutton, as they inflicted the home side’s only league defeat of the season.

Successive wins against Sawbridgeworth and Royston left the ladies on the brink of the title. In front of a large crowd, the ladies faced Billericay Town for the first time in a league fixture, and a 2-1 victory saw the league title secured with two games remaining.

There were mixed results in the cup. The FA Cup saw the ladies exit the competition in the first round against Colchester Town. The Essex County Cup saw the ladies win away against East Thurrock before bowing out of the competition to Brentwood Town.

The league cup brought an early exit, as the ladies lost out on penalties to Hannakins. However, the League Plate saw the ladies win away at Leverstock Green and Thorpe United, before winning the home semi final against Great Shelford. The final, held at Soham Town Rangers, saw the ladies face Hannakins, and despite leading three times, the final went to penalties, where the ladies triumphed 5-4, to clinch a league and cup double in their first season in the Eastern Region League.
