Clarendon slipped to defeat at the hands of AFC Colchester on Sunday morning. They took the lead however, through Todd Ayling. His cross eluded the AFC defence and keeper, ending up in the back of the net to give the Dons an early lead, despite pressure from AFC.
The Clarendon were starting to settle down as the midfield duo of K Barr and Scordis started to get a foothold in the centre of the park.
Chances however were few and far between as AFC continued to hit Clarendon on the counter and it was B Barr in the Clarendon goal who was doing well to deny AFC a way back into the game.
It didn-t take long in the second half though before AFC got back into the game. A free kick which had to be retaken after Scott Martin charged the original effort down illegally, found it-s way through the wall and past the reach of Barr.
Manager Kevin Johnson was forced to make two changes in the second half as Scordis and Bond-both injured. Were forced of the pitch to replaced by Kemble and Reid, with Reid replacing Barr between the sticks.
It didn-t take long for AFC to take the lead as Reid was blocked in the box but the headed goal was given.
Soon after coming on pitch Barr was soon off it, as a late two footed challenge saw Billy Barr given a straight red card (chin up mate). Despite the decision being the correct one, the referee was having a far from good game making inconcistent decisions.
Late on AFC grabbed a third after there striker had all the time in the world to place his shot past the helpless Reid.
The game finished as tempers were running high, but in the end it was a deserved victory for AFC Colchester.
