What can I say? With only 10 lads for the 2nd game running Clevo gave their best display of the season. An absolutely mammoth effort from all 10 starting with keeper Cameron Dale, who made at least half a dozen excellent saves, right through to lone centre-forward Jordan Allen who terrorised Ayton's back line for the full 80-85 minutes. Michael Graham & James Brown, the latter skippering the side, were both playing their last competitive games for Clevo before they sign pro forms for York City & what a send-off they gave. Both had their best games since York came calling a few months back & they will be missed but everyone at Clevo wishes them all the best in their pro careers. Michael's fellow centre-half Ethan Breslin gave a centre-back performance & a half. Throwing his body & head, a huge lump to show for it, in front of everything Ayton offered. Jazz Jacobs playing in an unfamiliar role of right-back was also superb, linking up well down the right with winger Dylan Jackson. Jackson himself ran himself into the ground for the cause. Filling in at right back when Jacobs went on his mazy runs. Johnny Hales, playing on the left wing tortured their right back so much in the 1st half that the poor lad was dragged off at halftime. Hales also back to his best after his recent Newcastle United trial. The midfield pairing of Xavier Omondi & Ellis Fallow won their own personal battles in the middle of the park, tackling & heading superbly whilst also creating chances. 'Bengo' also enjoying his best game of the season. Some of Fallow's passes split the Ayton defence wide apart, including the one for the 1st goal, an inch-perfect slide-rule pass into the path of Jackson. He in turn hit it first time with the outside of his right boot into the bottom left corner for a superb opening goal. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't all Clevo, Ayton had their chances but as you can see above Dale & his defenders were not to be defeated today. Allen got his just rewards for a stunning centre-forward's display after he was brought down in the box. Up he stepped to fire home, the keeper unable to keep it out. I have mentioned every player in the match report because they deserve the recognition. They all dug in knowing they were down to 10 & if you were looking in from the sideline unaware of the fact you would of struggled to know which team were a man light. M.O.M was nigh on impossible to give to just one lad as the whole team deserve this award. One of, if not THE best team display I have been involved in over 9 years of coaching this team. Take a bow lads...superb
