Season Archive

2011/12

The season was one of significant progress, particularly in view of the appointment of a new management team and the need to put together a new squad practically from scratch. Not unexpectedly, early-season victories were difficult to achieve but a very promising squad was gradually developed and considerable progress was made in the second half of the season.

The team finished eighth in the first division of the Liverpool County Premier League, which was a credit to Team Manager Tommy Murphy, Assistant Manager Alan Chapman and Coach Peter Murphy. The icing on the cake was victory in the final of the John Gregson Cup against leyfield - the first trophy won by the first team since 1957! Moreover, a very promising squad of predominantly young players has been developed, which augers well for the future.

At the Club's presentation evening, Tommy Murphy was awarded the Reg Beighton Cup as Team Manager of the Year. Joe Malby, who was the team's top scorer with 15 goals, was awarded the first team player of the year trophy.
