Collegiate Old Boys Football Club was founded in 1909 to provide a football facility for old boys of the Liverpool Collegiate School. Initially the club ran two teams: the first team played in the third division of the I Zingari League and the second team played friendly games against other 'old boys' sides. In 1924 the second team entered the I Zingari Combination.

The club enjoyed a major period of success between 1949 and 1957. In 1951, the first team won the I Zingari League, the I Zingari Challenge Cup, the Lancashire Amateur Cup and the Liverpool Amateur Cup – a remarkable achievement never matched by any other club before or since. In eight seasons between 1948/49 and 1956/57, Collegiate Old Boys won no less than thirteen trophies: the I Zingari League, the Lancashire Amateur Cup and the Liverpool Amateur Cup four times each and the I Zingari Challenge Cup once.

Since the 1950s the gaining of trophies has been somewhat elusive, apart from some sporadic success in the Liverpool Old Boys League. However, it has continued to flourish as a club and currently runs five Saturday teams and three Sunday teams.

The first team plays in the first division of the rececently-formed LCFA Premier League and the second team in the first division of the I Zingari Combination. Our veterans team plays in the first veterans division of the I Zingari Combination, and we have two teams in the Liverpool Old Boys League - one in division two and one in division four.

On Sundays, we have one team that plays in the over-45s section of the national Umbro Competition and a Casuals team that plays friendly games against like-minded opposition. we also have a newly formed Youth Team that plays in the under-16 division of the Halewood and Merseyside Junior Football League.
