Sports science has become such a huge part of the game now, at my club we have a team of people whose job it is to monitor our nutrition and they work closely with Lucozade Sport. Through talking to them every day I’ve come to learn how important it is that I’m fuelling my body with the right things at the right times. Most amateur football teams won’t have this level of support which is why it’s important for every player to take it upon themselves to think about nutrition and make sure they’re always able to perform at their best for the team.

Nutrition Matters

When playing football or training, the slightest change to your diet can make a big difference to your performance. If you want to be at the top of your game it is vital your body has the correct nutrition. Phil Evans

Phil is the lead Sport Scientist in football for Lucozade Sport and a member of the Lucozade Sport Science Team (LSST). The LSST provides expert sport science support across the country in a variety of sports, harnessing state of the art testing equipment and expert knowledge to deliver practical fitness sessions and nutritional education.

 

Previously, Phil studied Sport Science at the University of Wales, Bangor and followed up with a Masters in Exercise and Nutrition. Currently, Phil is responsible for the delivery of sport science by the LSST in amateur football, in particular the Lucozade Sport Performance League, and providing sport science support to several Barclays Premier League clubs.
