History |
Coventry Marconi Ladies FC was originally formed by a group of ladies working for Marconi in Coventry during the spring of 2000, of which only a few had previous footballing experience.
Mick Conneely (manager) was asked to help out with training sessions for a few weeks and is now leading the ladies in their 8th season.
The first couple of seasons were a learning curve for all involved, leading to many 'highs' and 'lows' both on and off the pitch.
With valuable experience gained, our 3rd season saw an upturn in both performance and results. Entering our 4th season as an established club within West Midlands Ladies Football we finally had a squad capable of challenging for the league title, after only 3 seasons this was a fantastic achievement for the club. Unfortunately having scored 90 goals and conceding very few, we fell just a little short.
Following the departure of a number of experienced and quality players, our 5th season was one of consolidation (enough said!!!!).
April 2005 saw an end to our association with the Marconi Group and the beginning of a new sports and social club namely Coventry Copsewood. As we entered our 6th season both manager and players were optimistic of a successful and enjoyable season and future, but unfortunately finished runners up.
Hopes were high as we entered the 2006-2007 season with the beneficial addition of some new players. After the anticipated good start to the season Mick started to plan for the following season adding two more high quality players to the squad. Without losing a game the club were able to celebrate their first championship, gaining promotion into the West Midlands Regional Premier League.
CCLFC offers opportunities for ladies 16yrs + to develop their footballing skills at grass roots level under the guidance of a UEFA qualified coach within the competitive world of ladies football.
