University of Teesside Futsal 10 - 5 Corinthians of Albion FFC |
| Date: 16/11/06 |
Corinthians had a hard game against Teesside Uni and got a lesson in Futsal from arguably the best university team in the UK. Corinthians only had 8 players available and had to draft in guest players Karl Richardson and Craig Busfield to get the numbers up. Corinthians also gave debuts to Andrew Cannell, Lee McKenna and Keith Brookbanks. With only David Smeathers and Manager Andy Lindridge having nateable experience to go along with keeper Liam Thomson it was always going to be a struggle against a well drilled skillful Teesside team. It proved so, with skipper Martin Honeyman looking rusty Teeside went into half time 5-1 to the good with Corinthians only having an Andrew Cannell strike to show for a tough first period. In the second half some of the new players started to get into the game and Lee Mckenna scored Corinthians second before the excellent Keith Brookbanks tricked his way through to slot home, unfortunately the home side where also scoring as freely. A finish from Honeyman after Brookbanks went round the keeper and an Own Goal from Corinthians 11 a side player Rick McGowan completed the Albions 5 goals for the day in a disappointing overall result. Taking into account the missing players of Denis Brown, David Doughty and mosty crucially Chris Tarn, Corinthians can be confident going into the Teesside league season. Squad for the game: Liam Thompson, Andy Lindridge, Martin Honeyman (c), David Smeathers, Andy Cannell, Lee McKenna, Keith Brookbanks, Jonny Kay, plus Guests Craig Busfield and Karl Richardson. MOM Keith Brookbanks
