Report

With  both teams level on points towards the lower part of the table coupled with a  swirling wind and a greasy pitch,it was possible to think that they may struggle to provide an entertaining game. However, both teams went to play football and in an early attack ,Matt Belcher had to be quick to block an effort from Droitwich's Jay Maycroft.

A few minutes later,Belcher found himself one on one with keeper West who blocked what should have been the opener.Droitwich then hit the post and after that established a period of pressure on the Coton goal, forcing a number of corners , but the defence held firm and Mark Bowen commanded the goal area well.

Coton got back into the game towards the end of the half, with Lee Barnes just putting one over the top and having a shot blocked. Then just before the break Droitwich's Nathan Davies found himself unmarked at the far post, but some how put the ball wide.

Droitwich began the second half well and it took a great save from Mark Bowen to stop a goal.Coton then had the ball in the net through Dan Mortlock, but it was disallowed for a foul on the Droitwich keeper.

The pressure then returned to Coton's goal as a header from Seeley drifted just past the post.Alex Gough then went close for Coton. The heavy pitch was taking its toll as Coton made three changes in the last 30 minutes. This was the turning point as after 70 minutes Levi Ward who had come on for Lee Barnes beat the offside trap to put the ball in the net.Within the next ten minutes he had two great chances to score only to see both of the go past the post.

So Coton were winners in an entertaining close fought game. This means that in the last 5 games they have taken 10 points after taking only 11 from the first 16 games.
