Cove started brightly in their first match under new management, taking the lead early on when a shot from Kevin Cooper was put into his own net as the defender tried to clear. Cove increased their lead soon after when new signing Marcus Moody outpaced the home defence and when his cross was only palmed away young Danny Turner was on hand to tap home from close range. Defensive lapses allowed the Police to get back into the game and reach the break at 2-2. The second half saw many substitutions but no more goals. This was a good workout for this newlook Cove team and the signs are promising for the coming season, as Lee Passmore and John Hamsher looked comfortable in the centre of midfield.
