All About Us
07 Sep 2006

Formed in 1897, Cove played their football in the Aldershot Leagues, moving to the Surrey Leagues at the end of the war, winning more than their fair share of silverware including a hat-trick of League Championship in that time, until 1973 when they relocated to their present home at Oak Farm, and moving to the Hampshire League where they gained promotion 3 times in 4 seasons. In 1980 the club changed leagues again moving to a more central Combined Counties League where they won the League Cup at the first attempt beating local rivals Ash United in the final. In 1989 Cove upgraded their ground adding floodlights, 100 seater stand and became totally enclosed with the addition of a concrete wall. 1990 saw the promotion to the Ryman League finishing fourth in the first season. However after three more seasons the spiralling cost at this level, forced Cove back into the Combined Counties despite three attempts to gain access to the Wessex League. Season 2000-2001 gave Cove their best time, reaching the 5th round of the FA Vase before losing 2-3 to Chippenham Town, and beating Ryman One side Bognor Regis 3-2 in the FA Cup 1st Qual. round. That year also saw the leagues first double as they won the League Cup with a resounding 3-0 victory over Walton Casuals and the League Championship after beating nearest rivals AFC Wallingford, reaching the 200 goals mark with a 3-0 victory to complete a memorable season.
