Report

The ressies went into todays game as big underdogs against ridgeons side Stowmarket Town Res and just looked to compete and enjoy the day and see what happens and things werent helped with keeper Marty Smith held up at work so centre back Ant Fryatt went in goal but we went out and played them off the park in the early stages and went ahead after 5 mins when Scott Parsleys corner went in via a defender for an OWN GOAL and it was a good start which we continued for the rest of the half with our neat passing and Kyes pace causing numerous problems for Stow as the half went on and we comfortably see the half out to lead going into the 2nd half.HT 1-0 Cranes..Stow came out strong in the second half but after 5mins STEVE SMITH was hauled down in the box and he converted after the home keeper did as much in the way of bad sportsmanship as he could to put him off to give us a 2-0 lead and well deserved as well but we felt we needed another goal to give us breathing space but the ref awarded Stow a freekick even though Glen Bradley was pulled back first he gave the second pull back instead with the home player finding the far corner with a good freekick for 1-2 and game on again, amazingly we then found ourselves 3-2 down in the space of 5 mins with a header from a corner and a ball over the top allowing the striker to lob Ant as he came off his line and we had to fight once again and with 3 mins left STEVE SMITH turned and shot right footed to level the game and then to our shock luke mulley fired across the face of the goal in the 90th minute and FILIP DOBRASIAK stuck out his size 11 boot and put us 4-3 up bang on time and we just waited for the time added on to be played out which was 3 mins but for some reason and only known to the ref he decided to play 6 extra minutes and in the 6th minute Stow scored then he blew for the end of the game which i have to say was a cruel blow as we thoroughly outplayed Stow over the 96mins to be denied by some poor time keeping but we had to get over that and the extra time period i felt we should have had a penalty but the ref had took up a very poor positon from a corner and wasnt in a very good position to give it and it went to penalties which we know is a lottery and we lost 5-4 with Scott Parsley the unfortunate player to have his kick saved and we go out..we wish Stow the best of luck in the next round as they were overjoyed and scraping past us in this fashion but im sure they will have an even harder game in the next round and will have to improve alot as even there manager said we didnt deserve to lose..i say "yeah i know".. special mention to the unsporting behaviour of a group of young stow fans who felt it was needed to follow our keeper from end to end shouting obscene language at him everytime he had the ball and abusing any cranes player that came near them and it just wasnt required but im sure Stow fc are really proud to have such immature followers who dont really do much for any clubs image..
