Crayford Football Club was formed in August 2005. Affiliated to the Kent Football Association , Crayford F.C ply their trade in the Kent Suburban League and are currently in their fourth season.
The club was set up by David Read and with the help of Dennis Watson and later Barry Dowdall, the club have made huge strides on the playing field whilst developing off the pitch as well. Our aim is to be a successful football team whilst also trying to maintain the enjoyment factor that is often forgotten at Sunday League standard.
Cups
Arnold and May Beckley Memorial Trophy
Second Round - Lost 3-1 to Soloelec (Away)
The President's League Cup
Semi-Final - Lost 2-0 to Albany Rangers (Home)
Although we finished 8th in the league and didn't win any silverware, our first ever season was deemed a great success. We started out with a small pocket of players at our first training session and ended up with a strong core of a squad for the 06/07 season. The team bonded well and and we were unlucky not to reach a cup final at our first attempt as we went down 2-0 to Second Division Albany Rangers, whom went on to win the cup.
In the league we were challenging for 1st place right up until Christmas, however, a severe dip in form meant we soon dropped out of the title race and Horton Kirby Sunday took the title with two games to spare.
A successful campaign off the pitch was accompanied by an enjoyable time off the pitch. Our first Christmas party involved a 24-man limo down to Maidstone for a night out and our end of season presentation night returned not only a great profit but also a great turnout.

A Special thank-you to the Crayford Barmy army whose support was terrific through-out the season. It no doubt helped us to a greater success than we could have originally hoped for and it was fully appreciated by all of the players.
3 cheers for the Crayford Barmy Army!!

Our second season was always going to be a tough one, you lose your surprise element coming up against teams in your league, players come and go, expectations from fans and players increase and you are under pressure to improve on last season. All in all we can consider our second season a great success considering the improvement shown on last season.
A few new signings were key in the summer, however, some of our existing players have improved vastly over the course of two seasons so our squad is in a fantastic shape going into the 2007 - 2008 season. That for us is the highlight of the season, seeing our young squad learn from our previous mistakes and still put together a credible title challenge.
Unfortunately we were pipped to the post by Bostall Park FC, who beat eventual runners-up, Lazarus, in their last fixture to clinch the title. Lazarus went on to finish on the same points as Bostall Park but were let down by their failure to score a great amount of goals in the season. We finished a further two points behind in 3rd, and although it wasn't automatic promotion, we still got promoted due to our superior points difference over 4th place.
Although we were disappointed with not finishing in the top 2 as we had planned to do at the start of the season, we still achieved 5 more points than the 05-06 league winners, Horton Kirby Cricket Club, and we gained an extra 22 points on our previous season's effort so we can consider ourselves unfortunate not to pick up a medal at least.
Our cup runs were not as long as we would've hoped at the start of the season but we certainly gave a good account for ourselves in the 'bigger' cups. We were undone by a late goal in the Arnold and May Beckley Memorial Trophy 4th Round, the Kent Suburban League's main cup competition, against Senior Division champions, Plume of Feathers. A great performance from an under-strength Crayford side was the highlight of our cup runs this season.
Off the field our club continued to grow also. Our attendances were up again last season and we still have the largest support in the league. Our presentation night was a great evening and also a great success considering we also made a profit on the evening.
Thank you once again for your support this season.
