THE CRICKETERS FOOTBALL CLUB
24 Aug 2006

The Cricketers Football Club was started by George "Ernie" Easton in 1991 and was called Thrumpton F.C.

The team played on a field donated by a local farmer and every Sunday we had to clear the pitch of sheep mess - wasn't a nice task so the new boy had to do it! We played in the Derby Taveners League and generally lost every metch - sometimes by 5 or 6 nil!

Because of the distance we were travelling to both home and away matchs we moved to The Dunkirk Social club and changed out name to suit. We changed leagues and joined Nottingham Sunday Supreme league - where we stayed for 3 seasons before moving on again. Whilst there we managed to come runners up in the 1st division.

With our sights set high we moved pubs and leagues again! This time we moved to the Cricketers in Beeston and joined division 3 of the Long Eaton Sunday league.

We stayed here for 3 seasons and rose 2 divisions before applying to join The Nottinghamshire Football Combination League - where we joined the following year in division 4.

We have been in this league since and have progressed to division one, where we currently sit. The Cricketers pub changed it's name to "The Tottlebrook Inn" so we had to follow suit and changed our name to T.B.I. Renammo - which stood for: Tottle brook Inn and the company name "renammo" which was the company of one of our long term players and sponser Phil "womble" Womblem.

The pub changed it's name back to The Cricketers 4 years ago and has since become a great place to go for Sunday dinner and the like - nobody wants to sit listening to a rowdy football team whilst munching on your roast tatas so we moved to the New Venture club in September 2006.

So...15 years old now and still to win any silver-ware! Never mind, we'll keep trying and our time will come. Could it be this year? Watch this space...
