The last game of the season against a team we beat 4 - 2 earlier in the season all be it the Colts are a strong team and Rovers would have to be at their best to win. With nothing to lose except a win to close the season we tried some changes. Dean played centre back and Paul mid field alongside Michael, Stuart wide right with Graeme left and Kieran on the bench. Coll called off last minute sick, Oscar and Innes were unavailable.

The game started well with both teams attacking and some good football and on the 3 rd minute Rovers were awarded a free kick about 25 yards out. Michael took the kick and Dean got a head to  flip it back and Ethan scored. So just what Rovers needed - an early goal and after 3 games without a goal it was well received. the next 5 minutes Colts started to get more chances at equalising with several of their attacking players very good a holding onto the ball and getting in behind the defence. This was rewarded with the equaliser on the 9th minute, just too much time and room.

The next 20 minutes was fairly even with Colts possibly having more chances but Rovers were holding their own.

Then over a spate of 5 minutes Colts scored 3 goals to leave Rovers 4 - 1 down. Some poor defending and just not clearing the ball properly gave Rovers a mountain to climb for the second half. However just before half time some good passing football starting with a good pas from jack who run in behind the defence to cross and Ethan slotted home his second goal. Kyle came on as a trialist for Michael and Kieran for Stuart 5 minutes before half time. So 4 - 2 down at half time and still some hope.

It was important that Rovers get back into the game quickly at the start of the second half if they were to get anything out of the game.

This was not the case and Colts scored their 5 th goal 3 minutes into the second half. Cameron and Callum came on for Ethan and Jack up front. The boys worked hard and 2 further gaols put the game out of reach. Michael came back on for Kyle and Ethan for Graeme and Stuart for Will and Rovers kept fighting with some good football and were unlucky to score on a couple of occasions.

All in all a poor end to the season but throughout the team should that they have the core to compete well in the B league and just a little more effort on more occasions and with all 11 players working hard we can compete with any B team. We will try and work hard over the summer ready for the new season. We lost 7 - 2 and Mathew was awarded man of the match with another hard working performance.
