Currie Boys Sharks

The current Currie Boys team first started when they were Under 8's. There has been a few players who have left but they have been replaced with more players. Currently we have 3 teams at Under 11 level with one team in the Pele league and 2 in the Beckham league. The Sharks are due to move up to Zidane league after a successful campaign this season.

The team have developed since there days at Under 8's and Under 9's and the coaches are now seeing progress. Life in the Under 9 league was a struggle as the squad split into 2 squads due to the number of boys wanting to join the club from the local area. The teams were split on ability and the Sharks were formed and they were to have an indifferent year in terms of results.

The team moved to Under 10's where the coaches started to notice a big difference in the teams performance and they started to win as many games as they lost. The confidence began to grow and the team were starting to play football with more flair.

This Season has saw the Currie Boys team start a 3rd team and attract more players from the local community. The new recruits have strengthed the team and gave us an all round balance. The Sharks have again improved and the football they are playing this season has been a joy to watch. They are now learning that if they work hard they can compete with the best in the league. We plan to move up a division after the winter break and the coaching team as well as the boys are looking forward to the challenge

The winter break saw the Sharks move indoors and play Futsal which is pretty much the same as 5 a sides. The boys seemed to enjoy playing indoors and it has kept them busy during a rather wet January and February. The futsal league saw the Sharks competing against Under 12 teams and most weeks they held their own. The games were fast and furious and the leagues were well run by the SFA reps.

The new outdoor season has started and we have played 4 games in the Zidane league, winning 2 and loosing 2. The boys continue to develop and are enjoying playing outdoors again although we could so with some sunshine
