Currie BC formed 1997

The Currie Youth Club soccer school was formed in the summer of 1997 by coaches Allen Pratt and David Dickson who were, at the time, running the under 12-football team. It came to our attention that a lot of local boys were playing for other clubs out with the Currie/Balerno area. We took the view that the youth club should be attracting and keeping the best local talent.

In the summer of 1997 we started our first soccer school for the ages 5-6, and 7-9. On the first night only a handful of boys turned up for the first class and one boy for the older class. After a few weeks numbers grew and it became very popular.
