HISTORY OF CWMBACH ROYAL STARS

In 1969, a meeting was held at the Royal Oak the outcome was, to formation of Cwmbach Royal Stars Football Club. Present than evening were, Tony Jones, Phillip Mann, Phillip Dennis, John Evans, Roy Phillips, and George Thomas.

With financial help from Mrs Megan Rees we were able to by the necessaries to start a football club.

One of the first purchases, were thirty chewing gums which were bought from Nevilles shop. They were numbered and used for our very first tote.
It cost allot of money to run a football club and we have been very fortunate to have had very good landlords and landladies of the Royal Oak who have helped us in different was over the years.
Phillip & Shelia Mann, Ken & Flo Jones, Brian & Lyn Caswell, Gareth & Hilary Owen. Steve & Pauline Vaughan and Alwyn, Brenda & Steve Owen.

In 1997 we moved to our new Headquarters to the Cwmbach Royal British Legion Club and over the years we have had a good relationship with the committee and landlords of the club. It has taken us a long time to get promotion through the pyramid after winning the Aberdare League Premier Division many times. In 1998/99 season the club gained promotion to the South Wales Senior League division two, and gaining promotion after finishing third to Division One..

Over the years we have had several ladies sections who have worked extremely hard to raise money for the club along with our tote sellers. Without these people we would have struggled financially.

The club over the years have had successful Junior sides winning a number of silverware from an under 10’s under 12’s under 13’s under14’s under 15’s under 16’s 17’s and under 18's With the dedication from team managers Gary Davies, Allan Jones, Keith Archer, Phillip Daniels, Richard Durston, and Steve Jones, Lyn Scorey, Gary Lucas.

Season 2008/09 the club has change its name to Cwmbach Royal Stars Sports Club.

Since the introductions of small sided football mini the club has see a number of dedicated parents taken the club forward Andrew Manning, Derry Seldon, Anthony Hollidge, Sudge Bansal,

Now armed with their own committee and dedication the future of Cwmbach Royal Stars Sports Club looks very bright
