The last game of the season for the lads and with nothing to play for it was a very flat performance.
After deservedly beating BISC last week I think some of us just expected to turn up and win without putting in the effort and commitment that it takes every week at the top end of this league.
We never really got going first half at all at least for the first 20 minutes we looked lethargic and our passing was poor. BISC hadnt really had a shot on target either but definitely had more possession and looked more threatening than us. They went ahead with a really poor goal from our perspective with a shot from distance straight at Oli could only parry it in front of the net and it was headed back over him as we stood watching instead of following up the shot. Poor goal but probably deserved. 0-1
We eventually woke up and for the last ten minutes or so of the half we looked much better, had good possession and worked the ball well into the final third. Joe B hit the post from an acute angle and Leon had a decent effort just wide but it stayed 0-1 at HT.
Second Half we started poorly giving the ball away too easily and not being first to the ball. BISC got a second when a corner fell in the box and we all stood watching as it was tapped in from close range. Another avoidable poor goal defensively 0-2. We did come into it a bit more after that and looked more threatening, Joe B was working hard in the channels but we lacked a goal threat when he did that because Logan was not working hard enough and was too easily marked. Joe B was then blatantly fouled in the box for a certain penalty but the ref waved it away. A poor decision but we got on with it and Leon then hit a good shot that the keeper saved well and we looked the better side at the time. With ten minutes left BISC sealed the game when a shot from 25 yards caught Oliver out and sailed over him into the net 0-3. We did get a goal back when Leon got free on the left and his low shot was half saved by the keeper but was clearly a good two feet over the line but somehow the ref again failed to see it and he waved play on to the amazement of everyone. As our players naievely berated the ref BISC got free up the other end and tapped in another at the second attempt 0-4 A bit of a harsh scoreline that certainly didnt reflect the game but in truth BISC deserved the points we didnt do enough overall to get anything from the game and it finished 0-4.
Overall a bit of a flat performance from most of our lads, Dylan and Leon worked hard in the wide posistions but we didnt do enough with the ball like we know we can.
It shouldnt take away from what has been a decent season all things considered, some up and downs but we have proved we deserve to be at the top end of the top section and we will be stronger next season.
Man of the Match: No real outstanding performances so I think Dylan and Leon can share it.
