The Club was founded in 1993, originally known as Ram United and playing at the Fairfield in Kingston, we were named after the Ram pub in Kingston where most of the original players once drank. In those early days they also sponsored the team, however after a change of management of the pub and the players disillusionment at the refurbishment that took away the lovely old fireplaces we set out on our own.
After much political wrangling, a fleeting visit to the 4th division and some management upheaval the club has been under new management since 1999 when there was a player buy-out and the name was changed to the current Darkside Football Club.
In 2004, Neil Tanna, one of the new, young, budding generation of sideline coaches, took his chair at the Black Lion with a view to bring an ageing team into the noughties. In his wisdom he masterminded a mid-table 5th division finish, which led to well deserved promotion in the 2005/2006 season. This was followed by a repeat the following season, which saw Darkside rise to the heights of KDFL league division 3 for the first time.
With further team bonding and squad-strengthening the 2007/2008 season in division three promised to be just as rewarding, if not much much harder! This it proved as Darkside had a tough Season, but battled hard at the seasons close recording two wins and a draw from their final 3 matches to secure mid-table obscurity and Division 3 football for the following season.
The 2008/2009 season was a special season in Darkside history with the birth of Darkside Reserves. The season saw both teams compete in the KDFL Division 3 and 6, finishing 4th and 5th respectively.
Following KDFL restructuring, the teams commenced season 2009/2010 in Division's 2 and 5, both hoping to push for promotion and cup glory in 2010.
