The pre-season for the 2010/11 season got under way mid august with a 4-1 friendly win over Longfield Tigers at Langafel School goals from Ted Cockley, Aflie Fullbrook, Jack Spurling and Henry Howard. The main season opener saw a resounding 12-0 victory for Erith & Dartford with Josh Weller (4) and Jack Spurling (3) the pick of the goalscorers.
This season we will be competing in the Bexley Junior & District Football League 'A' division in order to test the team this season ahead of building towards Kent Youth League standard at U13s. The season promises to be both challenging and exciting and a good step up which I am sure the boys will be more than equal too for the new season. New signings this season include Lennie Laker, Johnny Eades, Ryan Wheeler, Ted Sawad and Taylor Fisher
The season started bad with a poor perfomance against Ebbsfleet Red resulting in a 3 v 0 defeat. However, from that point a resurgent Dartford Town FC side came out with wins against Darenth Cougars, Crayford Arrows, Our Ladys Youth and a draw away to Thamesmead. Our then best win so far as a team has to be the 3 v 2 against Ebbsfleet White away from home. A fantastic performance and a scoreline which flattered the opposition we outplayed Ebbsfleet Utd and gave them their first defeat of the season.
After heading into the new year in good form with three good wins the team were optimistic of title hopes but knew a cracking start to 2010 was a must. We faced bogey team for some Thamesmead Town and come away with 5 v 1 win and followed that up with the more impressive 2 v 1 away win against Ebbsfleet Red. We then brushed aside Our Ladys Youth 11 v 0 to leave us joint top of the league going into our cup matches. The start of the cup was a nail biter going to penalties before beating Danson Sports 3 v 2 and then a much more comfortable 6 v 0 win over Hayden Harriers allowed us to progress to the quarter-finals.
The boys finished the season very well with wins over Thamesmead Town and Kingfisher JFC to finish joint Champions of the Bexley A. We then progressed into the trophy competition and wins over Kingfisher and Ebbsfleet Red and a draw with Thamesmead Town helped us progress to the final against Ebbsfleet White
This season has been an excellent season for the boys in the Under 9s age group 2008/2009. The boys have excelled their passing and movement game during the season and the squad has grown as a unit and become a very good team. A constant charge for the League Title fell at the last when we were guaranteed second place with a few bad performances leading up to our Woodruff Sports Cup Final. However, this did not affect the boys as a pre-cup final match vs. Northfleet Eagles Red resulted in a 6 v 1 win and an excellent performance which left the boys in good stead for the cup final.
The Cup Final on Sunday May 24th 2009 proved to be a special occassion for everyone involved. My first as a manager and the first for a lot of the boys walking out onto the pitch in their brand new kits - everyone prayed the result would go our way and in fairness i've got to say we dominated the final allowing Swanscombe Tigers very little time and space on the ball due to an excellent work rate and desire to fight and win possession of the ball - and in possession of the ball we were calm and precise with passing and deserved our 1 v 0 victory curtious of Mason Henderson's goal.
Overall, it has been a successful season in which we have seen boys excel and improve and i am positive that next year will follow suit and be another excellent season for Dartford Town FC. Mason Henderson took the golden boot this season with an outstanding 50 goals in 30 matches. We completed the season with a New Ash Green tournament. The boys played excellent football throughout the day and were unfortunate to be defeated by Palace Guard in the semi-final 3-2. Mason Henderson was our tournament top goalscorer with 11 goals.
The Season 2007/2008 was a successful one for the Under 8s team competing in the GBPFL 'B' Division. The boys were thrown together as a side with little coaching and training before the season and no pre-season matches but made up for that during the season. The boys came on really well during the season and found themselves in a 3 way battle for the league title with Northfleet Eagles and Eagles. Eagles faded away leaving us needing 4 points to complete a memorable first season title but it wasn't to be as we only gained 2 draws from the games to leave us 1 point short of our target. The boys have put an immense amount of effort during pre-season and with additional players are looking for a strong 2008/2009 campaign. Top Goalscorer with 29 goals from 2007/08 was Harry Spurling and Barney Simmons completed a great season finishing with 14 clean sheets.
