A brief history of the club would probably start when the kids met, it was at a local football academy with lots of other kids. Ten of them really got on together and were chosen to represent the academy as Seaham Academy under 9's. Travis Ferguson was the manager. That season was a great learning curve for them and they finished 5th in the 3rd division.
A second season together as the under 10's was more successful as they finished 3rd and won promotion to the second division.
2005/06. The next season as under 11's, Seaham Lions as they were known came runners up in the premier division. Travis Ferguson left the team and thats where I came in. With the help of a few people in the Dawdon Welfare Club and a good friend Derek Hunter we started the 11 a side under 12's. A good first season saw us miss out on promotion by three points.
The 2006/07. A season which saw some old faces go and some new face come in. As Dawdon Welfare under 13's we have finished third in the league and almost certain promotion.
The 2007/08 season has finished, so a well done to the lads that have not deserted us and stuck with us from start to finish. Please be proud of youselves for finishing in 5th place. The problems of players leaving hasn't helped, so with the squad we had 5th place is excellent. So another good season. Well done Dawdon Welfare.
2008/09 Season. Well another season starts soon. Alan Thompson will be the new secretary and details of the training staff will follow.
