DIAMOND RED STARS - FOUNDED SEASON 2002
Currently playing in the Chelmsford District Sunday Social League (CDSSL), the club is made up of players bought up through the ranks of Perry Street Youth FC as well as a few extras. Our home games are played at Melbourne Park, Chelmsford on Sunday afternoons to allow recovery from any festivities that may occur on Saturday nights.
By far our biggest success so far came during the 2003/4 season, where we did a double of sorts by finishing top of Division One and Winning the League Cup against Vorranova FC. Since then we have gone on to consolidate our position in the CDSSL Premiership, though so far without winning any silverware.
Although we take our football fairly seriously playing for Diamond has always been about enjoying the game and few teams can be as friendly with eachother as we are. This is reflected in the number of social outings we have together, including end of season tour which this year sees us travelling to Prague. These bonds should hopefully keep us together for coming seasons and bring us further success.
In junior football, should all players be given the same amount of time on the pitch during a game, regardless of ability?
Yes, always. Getting kids involved is the most important thing.
Yes, unless it is an important game.
No. Winning is important at all ages, so the best players should play more often.
