DOG & PARTRIDGE AFC 2
Ryan Rafferty (1)
Gareth Cardwell (1)
Charlestown 1

First versus second in the ADSFL 1st division, for 10 minutes possesion was even, chances were scarce. Gareth Cardwell had the first real chance after fine work down the right from Tasker to produce a cross only for Cardwell to head over from 6 yards. Charlestown began to take a foothold on the game, Fin pouncing to thwart an opportunity after 15 minutes. Dog were looking good on the break as Charlestown increased the pressure hoping to snatch a lead. A charge down the left from Heap ended weakly with the 'keeper collecting the cross with ease. Rafferty had a free kick well saved before narrowly shooting wide from a Heap cross down the left once more. A long hopefull ball from the visitors evaded the DOG defence, it bounced kindly for the centre forward who volleyed into the top corner from 25 yards, taking Fin by surprise.
The DOG had to show some grit and determination to come from behind against some good opposition. Within minutes of going behind Gareth Cardwell levelled the scores after latching onto a through ball by Danny Cardwell and cleverly chipping the onrushung 'keeper. Seconds before half time Treaton, helping the ball back into the penalty area, forced the Charelstown 'keeper to back track and parry over the bar.

The second half called for some fine displays, especially from MOM Dave Bates at the heart of the defence and a patched up Mick Jones in the midfield. Dog's best opportunities came down the left hand side involving Heap, Cardwell and Rafferty. DOG 'keeper Fin doing his bit at the other end to keep the visitors out. Meanwhile Sheedy catches on that Will had been repeating everything he had been saying all through the match.
GOAL! 70 minutes on the clock and DOG take the lead, excellent closing down by G. Cardwell resulted in a break through the defence, he calmly squared the ball to Rafferty who finished with aplomb. This spurred the DOG on to create more chances. An overhead lob from Cardwell bounced off the foot of the far post. Manager Burns made 3 subs at once to help stem the onslaught by Charelstown in the last 10 minutes, Rowlandson, Proffitt and Preston replaced Rafferty, Gareth and Danny Cardwell. All three involved in helping secure the 3 points and stay clear at the top of the division.
