Report

Dorking secured their CCL Premier Division status with a whirlwind first half against Badshot Lea on Tuesday night in their final game of the season.

Badshot Lea had come to Dorking fresh from a great 2-0 win over Conference South Farnborough in the Aldershot Senior Cup last week, so for caretaker managers Hurd and Coffey to achieve the win to guarantee CCL Premier status was not a mean achievement.

Dorking were 4-0 up within 29 minutes as an inspired team talk before the game saw Dorking come out of the blocks flying.  Goals from Billy Ramsey, Joe Pratley Jones, Russell Hartt and Scott Todd saw Dorking take a shell shocked Badshot Lea by surprise.   A fifth from Dave McCann put Chicks in dream land, but with a hint of what was to come, Badshot Lea scored a late goal just before half time to make it 5-1.

Badshot Lea dominated the first 20 minutes of the second half, pulling it back to 5-2 and then 5-3, but Dorking were never going to let such a dominant lead slip in such important circumstances, and a screamer from Dave McCann made it 6-3 and safe in the last few minutes.  A further consolation from Badshot Lea made the final score 6-4.
