Report

Missing several key players and unable to raise any substitutes at all, this was always going to be an uphill struggle. Indeed, uphill was the key word as the slope of the pitch was only marginally less than the side of Boxhill, although mostly side to side, and Dorking played with some of the slope in the first half. Early exchanges were fairly even but Seahaven took the lead on 10 minutes when a well placed left wing cross led to a free header in front of goal. The hosts held the upper hand without looking really dangerous for the rest of the half.

In the worst possible start to the second half Seahaven doubled their lead in the first minute through another unchallenged header. For this period Gemma Wilson was pushed up front and her pace created a good chance but her fierce left foot shot hit the crossbar and over. Goals 3 and 4 were, surprise, surprise, unchallenged headers from corners and, between these Wilson went close with two more strong shots but, it must be admitted she was fighting a lone battle.

The hosts fifth goal summed the whole day up, coming about a minute after the fourth it just dribbled into the net. The sheer frustration of the day got to a couple of the senior players and the final whistle couldn’t come soon enough.
