Despite winning 9 out of their last 10 league games, Dronfield Town still need to win this vital final game of the season against Westella and Willerby.
This was a tense and nervy affair with both teams obviously not wanting to give anything away, but it was Town who went a goal down on the 27th minute, when they failed to clear a long throw, and the ball fell to Westella's midfield player Slater to fire home, taking a deflection of a Town player on the way.
Town enjoyed plenty of possession but never really tested the Westella keeper or put their well drilled back line under any considerable pressure.
Town never really got into their stride in the game and missed the outlet of Danny Wood and the pace of John Doran, who left the field feeling the effects of his hamstring injury he suffered a month ago.
Full credit to Westella who deserved their victory, and they now face Glapwell at home next Sat, where a win will see them crowned league champions.
