THE SEASON REVIEW 07/08
SEASON 4

This season we introduced six new players all taken from last season’s under 14’s squad, so this was going to be a hard preseason to get the girls all playing together.
So here we are at the end of our final season as a junior team, and this has been a year of up’s and downs, but as ever, we have had some fun along the way.

8th September
DTFC 1 – 9 STEEL CITY WANDERERS
Team- Emily-Natalie-Lauren-Rebecca H-Rebecca C-Maddy-Charlie-Hilary-Esme, Robyn- Jessica .Subs-Alicia-Tara.
The season started with a home game against Steel City, who like us, are a team of mixed age players, the game started well although we conceded early on, Hilary pulled us level on 12 minutes with her first of the season, but after that, Steels were to fast and strong for us.

The lady of the match award went to Lauren for a fine performance in the heart of the defence.

22nd September
DTFC 0- 4 EDLINGTON
Team- Lauren-Natalie-Charlotte-Tara-Rebecca C-Maddy-Charlie- Hilary-Esme-Robyn-Jessica.Subs-Alicia-Rebecca H-Nikkie.
Our second game of the season saw Edlington as the visitors, this was Lauren’s first game of the season in goals and we were soon under pressure from a strong team. Charlotte gave us another fine defensive performance along side Tara, but the team found life difficult against a very good Edlington side.

The lady of the match award was awarded to Charlotte for a strong defensive performance.

29th September
THORNCLIFFE 5- 0 DTFC
Team- Lauren-Natalie-Tara-Rebecca H-Alicia-Maddy-Charlie-Hilary-Rebecca C- Robyn-Jessica.
Our first away game of the season saw the team travel to Thorncliffe and give the league leaders a good game. Playing down hill in the first half Town gave the home team some anxious moments, only to be undone towards the end of the half by three quick goals.
In the second half we changed our formation with Hilary playing sweeper and Jessica playing alone up front and Thorncliffe found the team more difficult to break down, the tactic worked and Town were unlucky to concede two more goals.

The lady of the match award went to Rebecca H for a strong game in centre of defence.

6th October
DTFC 0-1 ASTON
Team-Lauren-Natalie-Charlotte-Rebecca H-Tara-Maddy-Charlie-Hilary-Esme- Robyn-Jessica. Subs-Alicia-Nikkie.
Aston visited Gosforth fields with the girls still looking for there first points of the season. The team started well giving Aston a tough game, the midfield battled for every ball; the defence was strong with Tara having a fine game. The centre forwards never let their defence settle, Lauren looked on course for a clean sheet, then Aston were awarded a penalty with three minutes to play, this was a harsh decision, the team complained but to no avail.
The girls rallied and went flat out for the equaliser. Hilary went on a run only to be brought down just outside the area, Charlotte struck the free kick, it looked to have crossed the line but the referee was not well positioned and waved play on, this was a tough day for all the team, they had given everything only to be beaten right at the death.

Our lady of the match award went to Hilary for a superb midfield display.

13th October
SOCRATES 4-4 DTFC
Team- Lauren-Natalie-Charlotte-Rebecca H-Tara-Robyn-Charlie-Maddy-Alicia- Hilary-Jessica. Subs-Nikkie-Rebecca C-Esme.
Town started very well scoring on only three minutes, when Charlie swung a corner in from the right for Hilary to head home with power to give the keeper no chance, this was the perfect start after last weeks disappointment. Esme came on and scored with her first touch, at half time we found ourselves 3-2 down after conceding another penalty this one was a clearer cut with no complaints.
In the second half Town carried on where they left off with Hilary scoring her second of the game on 59 to make it 3-3, this was game on for Town and they went looking for the winner and thought they had got it on 74 when Charlotte scored from another corner this looked like sealing it but there was still time for Socrates to score another.

The lady of the match award went to Lauren for another fine display of goalkeeping and pulling of a stunning save at the end to keep the scores level.

20th October
DTFC1-1 ECKINGTON
Team- Lauren-Natalie-Charlotte-Rebecca H-Tara-Robyn-Charlie-Maddy-Esme- Hilary-Jessica.Subs-Alicia-Nikkie-Rebecca C.
Buoyed by their performance at Socrates, Town went out looking for their first win of the season and played some of there best football of the season so far at half time the score was 0-0.
In the second half Eckington scored the opening goal of the game which only made Town more determined and Hilary scored on 52 minutes and from then on only one team was likely to score the game finished 1-1 and Town were left still wondering were that first win would come from.

The lady of the match award went to Charlie for a good all-round performance in midfield.

10th November
DTFC 1-1 SHEFFIELD FC
Team- Lauren-Natalie-Charlotte-Rebecca H-Tara-Rebecca C-Charlie-Maddy- Hilary-Nikke-Robyn. Subs- Jessica-Esme.
This was the fixture we had been waiting for, Sheffield started well and put Town under a lot of early pressure but the team defended well and soon started playing some good football putting Sheffield on the back foot.
Maddy played well holding the midfield while Nikkie had her best game of the season so far, Becky H was solid at the back along side Charlotte and the full backs, Tara and Natalie, kept Sheffield under control helped by Becky C.

HALF TIME 0-0

In the second half Town stepped up a gear and put the visitors under a lot of pressure and finally broke the dead lock on 59 minutes, when Charlie put a corner in from the right and Nikkie was on hand to fire home with her RIGHT FOOT.
Lauren made some excellent saves to keep Sheffield at bay Hilary and Charlie had efforts and a good penalty appeal was turned down.
Robyn and Jessica fought for every ball up front while Esme had a good game on the right. Sheffield equalised with a well taken free kick straight in to the top corner giving Lauren no chance.
Well done Town a brilliant performance.

The lady of the match went to Maddy for a strong performance in midfield.

1st December
DTFC 1-4 MIDDLEWOOD ROVERS
Team- Lauren-Natalie-Charlotte-Rebecca H-Tara-Rebecca C -Charlie-Maddy- Hilary-Nikkie-Jessica. Subs-Alicia-Robyn-Esme.
Town went one down early in the game but fought back and it was a good strike that put the visitors 2-0 up, Town replied straight away with a fine goal by Jessica one on one with keeper Jess kept her cool to put Town back in the game. The girls pushed hard in the second half and were unfortunate to lose in the end. Lauren made some fine saves Hilary was her usual self and Maddy had another fine performance along with Rebecca C who had a fine game in midfield.

The lady of the award went to Jessica for a good performance playing alone up front.

8th December
STEEL CITY 2-0 DTFC
Team- Rebecca C -Natalie-Charlotte-Rebecca H-Tara-Alicia-Charlie-Maddy-Hilary- Nikkie-Jessica. Subs-Robyn-Esme.
This game was played in poor conditions on a very heavy pitch.
Town started well and put the steels on the back foot from the first minute with Hilary and Charlie taking control of the midfield only to be undone by a shot that was too good for Rebecca (c) playing her first ever game in goals.
Town went in search of the equaliser but were stopped by a determined back four, Charlotte put three free kicks just wide and town were denied a penalty after a clear push in the box from the corner, a hand ball appeal was also turned down by the ref.
Half time 2-0
Town emerged from the dressing room for the second half and put the home team under a lot of pressure Charlie hit the side netting, Jessica put the defenders under a lot of pressure with some good runs, Alicia was having a good game on the right, Hilary put a shot just wide, Maddy had a fine game holding midfield along with Tara at left back. Esme had a chance and Nikkie came back on and battled away up front.
At the end both teams had given everything and were out on their feet.
WELL DONE TO BOTH TEAMS ON A TERRIFIC GAME THAT WAS ENJOYED BY ALL WHO WATCHED.

The lady of the match award went to Rebecca for a brave game in goals.

22nd December
EDLINGTON 2-0 DTFC
Team- Lauren-Natalie-Charlotte-Rebecca H-Tara-Robyn-Maddy-Alicia-Hilary- Charlie-Jessica. Subs-Esme-Rebecca C-Nikkie.
Town started well against table topping Edlington with Becky H and Charlotte holding firm in defence, Lauren made some fine saves to keep the home side out.
Hilary and Charlie battled hard to win the midfield battle, but Town were undone by a fine individual goal, Charlotte went close with a couple of free kicks, Hilary had a good shot saved and Jessica went close with the follow up shot. Alicia was causing the defenders problems on the left with some surging runs.
In the second half again Town had the better of the game and were playing some of their best football of the season, and again Town put the home team under pressure and with a bit more luck would have scored with Charlie putting a good ball into the box and Robyn went close with a good effort, another fine shot beat Lauren to make the game safe for Edlington which left Town going home again with no points.
Well done to all the team this was another fine performance and deserved at least a point.

The lady of the match award went to Alicia for a battling midfield performance.

5th January
DTFC 0-4 THORNCLIFFE
Team-Lauren-Natalie-Tara-Charlotte-Rebecca H-Rebecca C-Maddy-Alicia-Esme- Jessica-Robyn.
On a windy morning Town captain Natalie decided to kick into the wind first and Thorncliffe took full advantage by taking a 3-0 lead by half time, but it was not all one way and Town had chances and were unlucky not to score before the break.
In the second half Town came out and put Thorncliffe on the back foot, Robyn had a good shot well saved then Jessica went close, Town were pushing hard and Esme fired just wide then Charlotte now playing in midfield went close with a shot that went just wide.
With Town pushing forward Thorncliffe broke away to score and make the game safe, even then Charlotte brought a fantastic save from their keeper it had goal written all over it but the keeper some how got a hand on it to push it round the post.

The lady of the match award went to Robyn for a fine second half performance.

12th January
ASTON 0-1 DTFC
Team-Lauren-Natalie-Charlotte-Rebecca H-Rebecca C-Alicia-Hilary-Maddy-Esme-Robyn- Jessica. Subs-Tara-Charlie.
Town travelled to Aston in high spirits looking to avenge a 1-0 defeat earlier in the season. Town started on the front foot and soon put Aston under pressure winning the ball in midfield and using it well to break down the Aston defence.
Then on 14 minutes Town broke the deadlock when a ball from the right found its way through to Esme who had the simple task of putting the ball in to the net to score her second goal of the season. Maddy had another fine game in midfield along side Hilary, with Alicia on the right having another fine game.
The defence led by captain for the day Charlotte stood firm Becky H was as strong as ever with Becky C restored to left back to give an assured performance, while Natalie at right back never gave her attacker a look in. Lauren kept her first clean sheet of the season and never looked under pressure.
Robyn and Jessica never let the defenders have a minute’s peace they even had to mark Jess to stop her putting pressure on the keeper.
What a performance from all the team who never looked liked losing the lead and possibly should have won by more, Charlotte and Hilary both had efforts that on another day would have been certain goals.
Charlie and Tara were the subs for the day and both came on to do a fantastic job in keeping the game as tight as possible.

WELL DONE GIRLS THAT WAS FANTASTIC.

The lady of the match award went to Esme for a fine goal and performance.

26th January
DTFC 3-3 SOCRATES
Team- Rebecca C-Alicia-Tara-Charlotte-Rebecca H-Maddy-Hilary-Charlie-Esme- Jessica-Robyn. Sub-Natalie.
This was a classic game of two halves, Town dominated the first half with Charlotte opening the scoring on 5 minutes, with a goal straight from the corner, this was quickly followed by Jessica reacting quickly to score our second on 8 minutes. Town pushed hard and the third came on 36 minutes when Esme put away a fine goal.
In the second half Socrates playing with the wind came back into the game scoring two well taken goals with an unlucky goal in between.
Town had one last chance in the final minutes when Robyn went through one on one with the keeper and pulled her shot just wide.

The lady of the match award was awarded to Hilary for another fine performance in midfield.

9th February
DTFC 2-1 BRUNSMEER
Team- Rebecca C-Natalie-Tara-Rebecca H-Charlotte-Maddy- Alicia-Hilary-Jessica- Robyn-Esme.
Town started well putting Brunsmeer under early pressure with some good passing only to be denied by the visiting keeper. Then against the run of play, Brunsmeer took the lead with a fine shot that went in off the post leaving Rebecca C stranded, the girls picked themselves up and went straight back at the visitors.
Hilary won Town a penalty when she was brought down in the box, Charlotte stepped up to take, but as she went to kick the ball she slipped and sent the ball wide of the post, this only made Town more determined and they were soon on level terms when Hilary picked up a pass from Maddy and ran through this time to slot the ball in the corner (22).
This game was now in Dronfield’s control with Natalie and Becky H playing with strength and determination, Tara kept the left side secure with some thoughtful play.

Half time 1-1

After the break Town went straight back at Brunsmeer and soon forced a corner on the right Charlotte delivered the perfect ball and Esme ran in to volley past the keeper for her third of the season (44). Town were now in full control of the game and could have scored more with Jessica and Robyn going close with fine efforts.
Maddy played the anchor role in midfield with passion and strength, Alicia gave the team width on the right and they never looked like conceding only going on to score more. This was a good performance form all of the team against another team above us in the league well done girls.

The lady of the match went to Maddy for another excellent performance in midfield.

16th February
SHEFFIELD 1-0 DTFC
Team- Lauren-Natalie-Charlotte-Rebecca H-Rebecca C-Maddy-Alicia-Charlie- Jessica-Robyn-Esme. Sub- Tara.
In a tight game Town lost out to a lucky goal in the second half.
The girls started where they left off against Brunsmeer, full of spirit and passion and it was not long before Charlie had the first chance of the game, when she pulled a shot just wide of the post, this was quickly followed by a free kick from Charlotte that went just wide, Tara came on to hold midfield along side Maddy to help keep it tight, at half time there was nothing between the teams and Town continued to play with belief and purpose, then Sheffield got lucky, Lauren came out for a ball and kicked it against their player only to see the ball bounce in to the net, this was a cruel blow to the team but they kept on going until the end and with a bit more luck could have snatched the equaliser they deserved. The whole defence stood out for Town with Rebecca C and Natalie having great games as did Charlie and Alicia in midfield.

The lady of the match award went to Rebecca for fine performance at left back.

1st March
DTFC 4-0 LANGOLD
Team-Lauren- Natalie- Tara- Charlotte- Rebecca H- Maddy- Charlie- Hilary- Jess-Robyn- Esme. Subs-Rebecca C-Alicia.
Town dominated this game from the start against a spirited Langold team, playing against the wind Town played some neat football with Hilary, Charlie and Natalie all linking up well on the right. Robyn opened the scoring on 15 minute’s with a well taken shot that gave the keeper no chance, Town continued to pen the visitors in their own half. Esme went close with a terrific shot that went just wide, Charlie put a good cross in that Robyn met and put just over the bar. Charlie put in a great shot that was destined for the top corner only to see the keeper make a good save.

Halftime 1-0

In the second half Town continued to pile on the pressure, Charlotte pushed in to midfield and went close with a number of efforts and the keeper came out to make another great save to deny Charlotte, just as we thought we would never score, Jessica latched on to a ball in the area to put the game safe (68), five minutes later Jess struck again to get her second of the day (73) this was quickly followed by her third (75) and the game was over.
This was a good performance from the girls in difficult conditions and they did well to keep the ball down.

The lady of the match was awarded to Natalie for another excellent performance at right back.

15th March
BRUNSMEER 1-0 DTFC
Team-Lauren- Natalie- Rebecca H- Charlotte- Rebecca C- Hilary- Alicia- Charlie- Esme- Robyn- Jessica- Sub-Tara.
Town arrived at Brunsmeer in a confident mood and looking for there first double of the season.
The girls started well with Jess going close on a number of occasions, Charlie also went close with some fine runs that the Brunsmeer defence managed to beat away.
Then the home side got lucky with a hopeful ball forward that Lauren could not hold and Town where one down , the team responded well with some thoughtful passing moves and when Alicia broke into the box she was pushed and the ref awarded the penalty. Charlotte stepped up and hit a thunderous shot against the post and out past the on rushing players.
Esme was having a fine game in midfield playing some lovely passes through for Jessica and Robyn to run on to but the keeper was in top form and kept the score at
1-0 at half time.

The second half started with Town still in confident mood that they could win this game, Jessica and Robyn went close with fine efforts but Brunsmeer stood firm, then Jessica was through one on one with the keeper and was brought down just outside the penalty area, after treatment, Jessica picked herself up to carry on, the resulting free kick went just over the bar.
In the next attack Jessica finally put the ball in the net only for it to be ruled offside.
This was not going to be our day we then had a run of corners but we could not find the net. At the final whistle the team had given everything and could not believe that they had lost as this was probably their best performance of the season.

The lady of the match award went to Jessica for a display full of passion and commitment.

29th March
LANGOLD 1-2 DTFC
Team-Lauren- Natalie- Rebecca H- Tara- Maddy- Alicia- Hillary- Rebecca C- Charlotte- Jessica- Robyn. Subs - Charlie- Esme.
We arrived at Langold on a sunny Saturday morning only to find a confident Langold team looking for there second victory of the season. Town started slowly and were put on the back foot by a lively home team. Lauren made two fine saves early on then we gifted Langold a goal, Lauren well saved the first shot but the defence could not scramble the ball clear and Langold scored.
This should have woke the girls up but we struggled to find our passes until
Rebecca C was set free on the left and when she pushed the ball into the area she was tripped and the ref pointed to the spot a lifeline was thrown. Rebecca H stepped up and coolly put the ball into the top corner only for the ref to make her take it again because of encroachment by one of our players, Rebecca H put the ball down again and this time the keeper made a good save. The girls battled through to half time still losing 1-0.

In the second half town started to put the home side on the back foot, but could not find away through the defence, the equaliser came on 58 minutes when Robyn snatched a goal from a corner. Town then went looking for the winner which eventually came on 72 minutes and again Robyn was on hand to put a clearance in to the net and town now looked more comfortable although it was not easy and when the ref blew the whistle a relived town had snatched all three points.

The lady of the match went to Tara for a committed performance at left back.

2nd April
ECKINGTON BELLES 0 – 1 DTFC
Team- Lauren- Natalie- Charlotte- Tara- Rebecca C- Maddy- Charlie- Hilary- Esme- Robyn- Jessica. Subs- Alicia-Rebecca H.
This is it our final game of the season and the team was determined to finish on a high note, kicking up hill Town played some excellent football with Hilary playing some lovely through balls for Charlie to run on to. The defence stood firm against a strong Eckington attack, with Natalie having another fine game at right back. Jessica linked up well with Hilary and Charlie to open up the defence which led to a good save from the keeper, Town kept on playing the football and Esme went on a good run down the left and shot just wide.
Jessica and Robyn were playing well and both went close with fine efforts as half time approached Town were well on top Charlie again went close with another fine effort and town finished the half on top.

Half time 0-0

The second half started with Town now kicking down hill, Jessica went close again then Robyn ran threw to open the scoring on 58 minutes. Town were now playing with purpose and they where causing Eckington lots of problems, Hilary made some surging runs only to be denied by the keeper. Lauren came out to collect a high ball from a Eckington free kick and that was there last chance of the game. Robyn and Alicia both went close in the dying minutes, the ref found some injury time and one last free kick, Hilary won the ball and broke away, only for the ref to blow the final whistle and Town had finished in there highest position since going eleven a side.

The lady of the match award went to Lauren for another clean sheet.

So the season has come to an end, and what a season it has been, as expected it took time for the girls to bond into a team, but once they had, we became a very solid unit and the opposition found us difficult to play against. We have once again improved over the course of the season and every player has played a major part in the team’s success, yes I mean success because to finish the season with only three defeats since the turn of the year and all of them in close games, this is a mark of how far they have all progressed.
Well done to each and every one of you for playing with the right attitude and commitment all season, you have done yourselves and the club proud.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank a few people for there help this season with out these people the team and club would not be where they are today.
Firstly our sponsor DRONFIELD NURSERY for our shirt sponsorship over the last two seasons this is greatly appreciated by the club and I would also like to thank Sue Lund for offering to extend this by another two seasons, it is fantastic that local businesses are supporting the team and club in these exciting times.
My next thank you goes to the parents for giving up their time to support the team on a Saturday morning along with their help with putting up and taking down the nets for every home game. A special mention must go to Carl for running the line at almost every fixture this season and to Steve for stepping in when Carl was not available, this is appreciated by all the team.
A thank you must also go to Linzi and Ron for all their help this season.
Linzi has taken on the task of the warm down on match days along with the responsibility for first aid and by standing behind our goal she has given the team support when needed.
Ron has been in charge of the warm up on match days and has come up with some interesting routines for the girls and his input at the training sessions have been invaluable, most of you know that Ron has decided to retire from the team at the end of the season and we will all miss him. I would like to take this opportunity to thank him for the last four years work with the team and to wish him good luck with his coaching for the future.
My final thank you goes to all the team for there hard work and commitment this season well done to all of you, if you did not win an award remember the girls who have still need you because football is a team game and you all deserve credit for your own personal achievements. Enjoy the break and good luck for those of you who are taking your GCSE’s this summer.

Thanks
Kevin

Presentation Night Awards
2007/08

THE LADY OF THE MATCH AWARD
Lauren Broadhead

This season’s lady of the match award was again a close run contest with the decision not being decided until the final game of the season.
This season’s winner has played 16 games keeping three clean sheets and making some important saves at key times.
Lauren is a much admired player around the league with other managers commenting on her performances.
Well done Lauren yet another fantastic season.

THE MOST IMPROVED PLAYER
Rebecca Camsell

This season this award has been given to a player who consistently has improved over the course of the season.
Rebecca has shown that she has the passion and spirit for the game as well as a desire to succeed no matter what position she has played.
Her reading of the game has been good and she has trained hard and when asked she has put on the gloves and performed in goals and was unlucky not to keep a clean sheet at home to Brunsmeer.
Well done Rebecca you have worked hard this season and you deserve the rewards it brings.

THE DRONFIELD NURSERY TEAM PLAYER OF THE YEAR AWARD

Rebecca Hancock

This award goes to a player who nearly walked away from the game last summer.
Rebecca has proved to a good solid defender who reads the game well and has a no-nonsense approach but when given the opportunity know’s how to pick a pass and find her player.
Rebecca has played a major part in the teams consistent run in the second half of the season showing commitment, attitude and a passion for the game.
Well played Rebecca you have had a great season keep it up.

THE ATTITUDE AWARD

Esme Mcvay

The attitude award this season goes to a player who has trained hard and played with desire and commitment.
Esme has a desire to succeed in the game, with an eye for a goal and a good left foot; she’s been influential in midfield with her running and passing. Esme’s finest moment of the season came at Aston where she scored our winning goal for our first victory of the season.
Well done Esme keep up the hard work and you will reap the rewards.

THE GOLDEN BOOT AWARD
Hilary Rees & Jessica Warwick

This season the award has been contested by four players and was keenly contested by all of them.
The winners where Hilary and Jessica who both finished with five goals a piece.
Hilary opened her account on the first day of the season with a well taken goal against Steel City, Hilary then took her tally to three in the game at Socrates with Jessica still to open her account this looked like a one horse race and when Hilary scored in our next fixture against Eckington her tally rose to four. Then Jessica opened her account in the cup game with a fine solo effort and the race was on again.
When Esme notched our winner at Aston this became a three way battle with her tally at two.
Esme and Jessica both scored in our 3-3 draw against Socrates
And Hilary was under pressure, Hilary and Esme both scored in our victory against Brunsmeer and it was Jessica who was suddenly looking out of the race, her response was to score a hat trick against Langold along with Robyn who got her first of the season.
Robyn had now found her scoring boots by getting two at the away fixture with Langold; she had put herself in the frame. We went to our last fixture with four players chasing the golden boot, this was going to be an exciting night and when Robyn scored she really fancied her chances of catching Hilary and Jessica, with Esme pushing them as well this was a good fight to the end.

Well done to both Hilary and Jessica you both scored some brilliant goals and have deserved to share the award.

THE MANAGERS PLAYER OF THE YEAR AWARD

THIRD PLACE: - Alicia Cole

Alicia has had a good season and has improved her game along the way. Playing most of the season on the right hand side of midfield, her attitude and commitment has been good.
Alicia has never pulled away from a tackle and has been unlucky not to get a goal.
Well played Alicia keep up the hard work.

SECOND PLACE: - Natalie Bradwell

Natalie has been a consistent performer all season and has played an important role in our defence.
Playing at right back she has shown great character and commitment and has always given everything for the team showing determination and strength when needed most.
Well played Natalie you have had a brilliant season.

THE MANAGERS PLAYER OF THE SEASON

Maddy Wood

Maddy has played an important role in the team this season taking over our holding midfield position which she has done with great authority and maturity.
Maddy has never been afraid to give out the orders and point the finger when she has wanted somebody to mark or move into a position and has been quick to praise other members of the team when they have needed it.
Maddy is one of our younger squad members, so to fill this role against players older and stronger than her is a good achievement, she has been consistent all season and deserves this award for showing a strong character and determination against some very strong players.
Her reading of the game has improved as the season has gone on and her ability to find her team members with a good pass has been a feature of her game that has shown great vision.

Well done Maddy you have deserved this award for your passion for the game and willingness to learn, well played and good luck for next season.

THE PLAYERS PLAYER AWARD
2007/2008

CHARLOTTE DICK

This seasons winner has once again been a consistent performer in the centre of defence, her positional sense has been good all season, her ability to clear her lines and bring the defence out has been a strong feature of her game along with her long throws and corner kicks where she has posed threat in the attacking third.

This season Charlottes goal tally is two, which is not a true reflection on her number of strikes on goal and the number of free kicks that have sailed just wide or over has been astonishing, on another season Charlotte would have been in double figures.

My favourite moment of the season was when she scored direct from a corner against Socrates, the smile on her face was as big as the goal what moment for us all to saviour.

Charlotte has always trained hard and played hard and always plays the game to the best of her ability.

Well done Charlotte you have deserved the recognition of your team mates and this is a great way to end another fine season congratulations’.

Amy battled in midfield, Charlie covered all the pitch and Nikkie supported Lucie from midfield, Lucie never gave their defenders any rest.
This was an outstanding performance by the team, it took Brunsmeer 70 minutes to break down the resilience of the girls.

HOLLAND HERE WE COME !!

SEASON 2 05/06
27 Jan 2009

MY VIEW
SEASON 2 (05/06)

DRONFIELD TOWN GIRLS FC (U 14’S)

Well here we are at the end of our second season, this has been a season of learning for all of us, new players and a new game
(11 a side).

I hope all the new members of the Dronfield Town family have enjoyed their first season.

The first game of the season, Aston visited Gosforth and everything goes according to plan, Hilary scores two goals and Town get off to a well deserved 2-1 win. Emily gets the lady of the match award for a fine display of goalkeeping.
Amy, Lauren, Jessica, Rebecca and Megan N all make there debuts for Dronfield Town.
Next up we travelled to Sheffield Rangers and with hindsight we should not have played the game.
Town lost 3-1, the lady of the match again went to Emily for another fine display of goalkeeping which included a penalty save, Megan Nelson scored her first goal for Town.

Back at Gosforth Tansley were the visitors, Dronfield went 2-0 down and were denied a clear penalty in the first half. Natalie played a strong role at right back in a solid performance by all the defence.
Town went out for the second half with a new resolve,
despite conceding a third goal Town played with a new purpose and pulled back two goals from Megan Nelson and Hilary Rees, but were unlucky not to get a third at the end when the ref blew as Megan was about to shoot.
The lady of the match award went to Lauren Broadhead for an outstanding defensive performance.

At home again this time the visitors were Thorncliffe who were just to quick and strong for us, 2-0 down at half time Town had to thank Emily for keeping us in the game.
Town pushed forward in the second half and Thorncliffe
punished us by scoring three more this was not to be our day, Emily had another fine game to win the lady of the match award.

Next up we faced Edlington at home, this was Chloe’s first game of the season. Town got off to a flyer forcing an own goal very early in the game. Rebecca playing at right back had a good half. The half time score was 1-1.
Despite playing some of our best football of the season so far, Edlington had one player who netted four in the second half and the score did not reflect how close the game really was, Hilary won the lady of the match award for an excellent performance showing vision and skill as well has her customary work rate.

Our next fixture was away at Aston with only ten players, the girls were a credit to themselves, Dronfield Town and their parents. This was a game where all the team worked hard and did not deserve the cruel twist of a disputed goal, Megan(h) had a fine game in midfield. The final score was 2-0 but again we were the better side. Megan(n) won the lady of the match playing her first game in goals for Town.

At home to Eckington the girls found their scoring boots, but it took 27 minutes to break the deadlock when Lucie netted her first of the season, she obviously enjoyed the moment because within a minute she had scored her second.
The second half started with a flourish, Hilary netting almost straight away followed by goals from Charlotte 3, Lucie 2 more and Hilary getting her second, 9-0 did not flatter us, the score was a true reflection of our supremacy. Jessica and Stacy had fine games in midfield. Lucie took the lady of the match award for a fine hat trick and her overall work rate in the game.

Next was our first cup game of the season away at Eckington, on a difficult pitch Town got the perfect start Charlotte scored in two minutes, Natalie and Rebecca had fine games playing in defence. Hilary netted two more and the game was won.
The second half was played in the Eckington half but Town could not increase their lead. Emily picked up the lady of the match for her tireless performance. Town won 3-0 and the cup run had started.

After a long Christmas break our next fixture was away at Tansley. On a cold morning the girls put on a brave performance on a very big pitch, pushing Tansley all the away.
Unfortunately we conceded an own goal when we were very much on top. Charlotte playing in midfield gave her all in a tight game. Emily scored a brilliant goal to bring town back into the game.
Tansley scored twice in the second half as Town tired after such a long lay off and on a much bigger pitch than we have ever played on before, all took its toll on the girls. This game was Francesca’s debut and against such strong opposition settled in well, Lauren won the L O M award for her now customary strong defensive performance.

The following week Aston paid their second visit to Gosforth and the girls were determined to reverse the score from the last meeting. Town started slowly and conceded two goals in the first half.
We came out for the second half more determined and put on a stronger performance Chloe ,Stacy and Jessica all put in a lot of hard work in midfield, but the hill was to difficult to climb and Aston ran out 2-0 winners, Hilary won the
lady of the match with another strong performance.

Away at Sheffield Rangers we were raring to go. Town were playing well with Natalie starring in defence. Rangers got two lucky goals, one a deflection the other was a clear push on Charlie that the referee missed(never mind Carl we wont hold it against you).
In the second half Town started the brighter playing some excellent football, then Ron went to Morrison’s for a toilet break and Town scored two, the first went in off the crossbar and the second flew past the keeper who never moved, both goals were scored by Hilary, now Town were flying Rangers were stunned.
The girls really went for it sensing a win but we lost out to two late goals and a result that they did not deserve.
L O M was awarded to Megan Nelson for yet another fine display in goals.

Town were now playing in the quarter final of the cup for the first time in the teams history against Brunsmeer from the first division.
The girls started well and all the pressure was in the Brunsmeer half, with ten minutes gone Hilary was brought down in the box for a clear penalty, Hilary picked herself up to take the kick but unfortunately put it wide. Three minutes later Emily scored what proved to be the winner. All the team have played to there potential and deserved the win and our first semi final (also the first Dronfield Town Girls team to reach a semi final). The lady of the match was awarded to Charlotte who played in her favourite position at centre back.

The following game was away at Eckington. Town got off to the perfect start with Emily scoring after just 4 minutes only to be pegged back by Eckington’s first goal of the season. Emily scored her second on the stroke of half time. Ten minutes into the second half Emily and Megan N changed positions and Megan scored a fine hat trick which included a superb header. Francesca playing at centre back kept their centre forward quiet, Charlotte rounded the game off with a 35 yard screamer into the bottom right hand corner. Stacey was awarded L O M for a tireless performance.

Then came an enforced 5 week lay off before the semi final against Sheffield Rangers. The game finally been played at the third attempt, all the girls played at the top of there game and put on a fine defensive performance playing 4-5-1 to try and eliminate the pace that Rangers process. This worked for 1 hour then Rangers scored so we lost our first ever semi but all the team deserved praise for a very disciplined performance. Hilary won the L.O.M award for another outstanding show of athleticism.

Two weeks later we travelled to Edlington but with only 9 players, we faced an uphill struggle eventually losing 3-0 all the girls did themselves proud even one of Edlingtons parents did not realise that we only had 9 players. Megan N was awarded L.O.M for another display of excellent goalkeeping.

Two nights later (Monday) we travelled to Thorncliffe and on a very boggy pitch with only ten players Town were up against it from the first minute. 5-0 down at half time the girls rallied and put Thorncliffe under pressure and only conceded one more goal. L.O.M was awarded to Lauren for yet another commanding performance at centre back.

On Wednesday we played hosts to the champions elect Tansley. In another close game Town pushed Tansley all the way. With a bit more luck we could of beaten the league leaders. Megan H playing in midfield put in a strong performance. Tansley scored three goals to Towns one, which was a screamer from Charlotte. So for the second season running the championship was decided on Dronfield soil, so lets hope we make it a third time lucky next season. L.O.M was awarded too Megan Nelson.

The following evening Town travelled to Eckington for our fourth game in six days. Against an improving Eckington side Town battled to a 3-0 win a nice flick by Lucie got us off the mark and the result was never really in doubt. Emily and Megan Nelson swapped positions for the second half and Megan bagged herself two excellent goals. Natalie put in a physical performance, Charlie would have scored on any other pitch on a tremendous shot which flew narrowly over the bar. Stacy was outstanding in midfield to take the L.O.M award.

Unfortunately our next game against Sheffield Rangers was our worst defeat ever. With us only having eight players Town battled for 70 minutes. Never once did their heads go down all the girls were fantastic and they all deserved the L.O.M award.

Next we travelled to Edlington with two games left we needed four points to finish above Aston. Hilary scored a well taken goal to pull us level, only to be knocked back by a freak goal from the Edlington keeper. In the second half the girls were tiring but kept on trying with Charlie hitting the bar late on so it was not to be. No L.O.M as it was impossible to pick out one girl in such a spirited performance.

Our last game of the season was at home against Thorncliffe. Town were the first to score with Megan Nelson netting in two minutes. Town continued to press Thorncliffe back and with a bit more luck we could of scored again, the half time score was level. In the second half Town kept the visitors at bay.
Natalie and Francesca kept Thorncliffe’s wide player’s quiet. Unfortunately the end of season games caught up with the team and as tiredness set in Thorncliffe scored 3 more. Rebecca and Megan (H) came on and worked hard to try to get Town back into the game. At the end all of the team had put in a supreme effort. Chloe Bullen was awarded the L.O.M for an inspired performance.

So here we are at the end of our second season we knew it would be hard changing from 7 to 11 a side and it proved so. But I feel we are now better prepared for next season at under 15.
The major highlight of this season was our cup run to the semi-final. The victory over Brunsmeer showed me what this team can achieve and they have put there mind to it. Losing to Sheffield Rangers in the semi final, who eventually went on to win the cup, was a game they also should be proud of. Although I did not see the game I was told by everyone that witnessed the match that the girls did themselves proud. The way this squad of girls have conducted themselves over this season is a credit to each and everyone of them and they all should be congratulated on the fact that they have put 100% into every game even when losing they never gave up. Well done girls you really are simply the best,
because

WE’VE GOT STYLE, WE’VE GOT CLASS WE’RE DRONFIELD TOWN AND WE’RE GOING TO KICK YOUR A*S!!

Congratulations to you all, thanks Kevin.

PLAYER PROFILE

2005/2006

REBECCA CAMSELL

Rebecca joined Town in the summer and has trained hard; she has featured for the team in defence and midfield,
Playing in 20 games out of 21.
Rebecca’s game has flourished as the season progressed, becoming more vocal on the pitch and is a good all-round team player.
Well done this season keep working hard and you will get your reward.

FRANCESCA LISTER

Francesca only joined in January and is the youngest member of our squad, she made an immediate impact at left back and adapted well to the challenge, Francesca is not afraid of putting in a tackle when needed.
Well done Francesca you have settled in well, and have had a great season.

LUCIE WOOD

Lucie was the girl who two years ago would have laughed at you if you had told her she would be playing football on a Saturday morning.
Lucie’s game has improved tremendously this season scoring 6 goals in 19 games including a hat trick.
Her work rate has been good and I have enjoyed watching you progress through the season.
Keep it up Lucie we know you can play well done.

EMILY WALKER

Emily has been another consistent performer starting the season in goals then moving out to play up front, you have been an asset to the team in every position you have played always giving your all.
Emily has scored 4 goals and collected 5 lady of the match awards.
Congratulations Emily on a fine season keep working hard.

JESSICA WARWICK

This is Jessica’s first season with Dronfield Town and has settled in well with the rest of the squad.
Jessica has played most of the season in the centre of midfield and has improved constantly through the season.
She has played with spirit and enthusiasm, taking a few knocks along the way but never letting them get her down.
Jessica kept telling us that she could not head the ball all through the season then with out warning she heads it three times in a game well that caused a stir on the touch line even dad was surprised.
Well done Jessica that was a good first season.

CHLOE BULLEN

Chloe has had a frustrating season being diagnosed with Osgood Pslaters just before the season started.
Chloe who is our vice captain has only played 10 games this season and has been missed by all of us.
Chloe played a full 70 minutes in the last game and was awarded the lady of the match a deserved award for a true battling performance.
We all hope you will be able to play more games next season.
Well done and keep on smiling.

HILARY REES

Hilary has again had a good season, scoring 9 goals and winning 4 lady of the match awards.
Again she has covered every blade of grass on every pitch.
Hilary has added more to her game this season showing us that she has the vision and awareness of other players around her.
Well done Hilary keep it up.

CHARLIE CROWLEY

Charlie is our team captain and is a good leader she is always vocal. Since moving into midfield she has been unlucky not to get that elusive first goal.
The shot that fizzed over the bar at Eckington was worthy of a goal as was the shot at Edlington which hit the bar.
Well played this season Charlie don’t worry that goal will come.

STACY HEWITT

Stacy has had a good season playing wide midfield.
She has been unlucky not to score on more than one occasion this season; she has got forward but has not neglected her defensive duties, and is never afraid to tackle.
Well done Stacy.

NATALIE BRADWELL

Natalie has made the right back position her own this season and has played a big part in keeping the score down when we were under a lot of pressure even clearing one of the line.
Natalie has shown great character in putting up with her dad as manager on the touch line, and well done this season you have worked hard.

MEGAN NELSON

Megan is another newcomer this season and has been a consistent performer whether in or out of nets.
Megan has scored 7 goals and has won 4 lady of the match awards and to be voted players player in your first season is a true reflection on the impact you have made on the team.
This has been a great first season well done.

MEGAN HOLLAND

Megan has unfortunately missed a lot of the season through illness. She has played 7 games and has given 100% in all of them.
That is all a manager can ask for, 100% commitment and attitude.
Thanks Megan and well played.

CHARLOTTE DICK

Charlotte has had a good season popping up all over the park, taking long throws which keep getting longer, free kicks and goal kicks.
She even scores the occasional screamer; Charlotte is also a reliable defender winning headers and tackles.
Charlotte has scored 6 goals most of them from outside the area.
Tremendous Charlotte well done.

LAUREN BROADHEAD

Lauren is also in her first season as a Dronfield Town player and has also settled in well, starting as a centre forward she was switched to left back and then to centre back where she has settled in well reading the game well and sweeping up behind the back line as well.
Lauren has played in all 21 games this season and has shown a fantastic attitude to both training and match’s. Winning the player of the year award in her first season has been a tremendous achievement.
Congratulations Lauren.

PRESENTATION NIGHT AWARDS
2005/2006.

MOST IMPROVED PLAYER.

This season’s most improved player goes to a player who has shown a lot of commitment and effort in every game this season, and I mean every game. This player has not missed a single match.
She has shown that she is willing to learn, and has taken her fair share of knocks but just keeps on picking herself up and getting on with the game.
This player once told us that she could not head a ball then all of a sudden her head met the ball not once but three or four times in a game this was a surprise to us all especially her dad. She took some ribbing from us all but we are all pleased to award

THE MOST IMPROVED PLAYER THIS SEASON TO ……
JESSICA WARWICK

THE GOLDEN BOOT.

The golden boot award is not normally given out by the club but as a team we have decided that this feat should be recognised.

This season the award goes to a player who has given everything to the team including a bit of blood.
She has scored 9 goals in a very hard season.
A couple of the goals deserve a special mention-
The first of the season against Aston which flew into the top corner she still insists that it was a cross but I reckon it was a well placed shot.
The second was at Sheffield Rangers which was pure power the keeper never saw it never mind move (it was that fast even Ron missed it).

SO OUR GOLDEN BOOT AWARD FOR 2006 GOES TO ………..
HILARY REES.

THE ATTITUDE AWARD

This is a new award to us this season and was very difficult to choose one player out of the whole squad.

We are giving this award to the player who we feel that shows the correct attitude to training and playing, this player has not missed a single game and has always shown us that she is willing to listen and learn.
She has also won 4 lady of the match awards this season, and it is her first season with the club playing an important part of our defence she has proved to be a popular member of our squad.
This player has progressed really well this season through hard work and commitment and has been a pleasure to coach.

THE ATTITUDE AWARD FOR THIS YEAR GOES TO ………..…LAUREN BROADHEAD

THE LADY OF THE MATCH AWARD

This season’s lady of the match award has been a close run contest with four players having a chance of winning the trophy.
The award this season goes to a player who won four of her five awards playing in goals with some excellent displays, saving a penalty being brave when asked to come out at players feet and keeping us in so many games this season with her agility, I would be here all night if I started talking about them all. Her performances out of goal have also been a highlight scoring four goals, the goal at Tansley was a well taken strike into the far corner across the keeper. and of course the goal that beat Brunsmeer in the cup setting up our first ever semi final.

THE LADY OF THE MATCH AWARD 05/06 GOES TO……………
EMILY WALKER.

TEAM PLAYER OF THE YEAR AWARD.

The award this season goes to a player who has only missed one game all season and has played in a few different positions, she has never complained when she was a substitute or was substituted. This player has trained hard and is always willing to learn.
Her game is improving all the time and I look forward to seeing Stan push for a starting place in the team next season.

THE TEAM PLAYER OF THE YEAR AWARD GOES TO………..REBECCA CAMSELL.

THE MANAGERS PLAYER OF THE SEASON.

This year we have three players in contention for this award.
In third place we have a player who has performed well all season playing 19 games and scoring 6 goals and was also awarded 2 lady of
the match awards. This player is involved in every part of the pitch, her long throws always cause teams a problem and they are getting longer, she also provided the corner for our only headed goal of the season.

IN THIRD PLACE …….CHARLOTTE DICK.

Runner up this year is a player who we all admire, this player never stops, she is always in the thick of the action, she has a tremendous engine, she covers every blade of grass in every game and she scores goals, she has a fearless streak which must worry her parents but then again her mum says that she is a tough girl and takes some knocks but just shrugs them off.

THIS YEARS RUNNER UP IS……..HILARY REES.

The winner of the manager’s player of the year award goes to a player who has played all 21 games winning 4 lady of the match awards. THE MANAGERS REVIEW
SEASON 2004/2005

DRONFIELD TOWN GIRLS U14’S

When we first started out last summer I never thought I would be sat here writing a review of such a wonderful season.
For a start I never intended managing a team I just wanted help my daughter to play football so here we are at our first presentation night of many I hope.
So lets go back to last September to that first match of this season we were at home to porter, we were all excited and apprehensive about what was to happen.
We got off to a good start with a creditable 2-2 draw, Hannah scoring her first goals of the season and all the team playing out of their skins, Chloe took the lady of the match award with a fine defensive display, and we were off on what was to be a very good run.

Next up was dale tavern and town hit top form running out 9-2 winners with Hannah scoring 4, Emily 1 and Charlotte hitting a hat trick after playing the first half in goal the L.O.M. award going to Hannah, town were top of the league so the official table said.

Next up a difficult trip to brinsworth we were 2-0 down inside ten minutes, the manager on the phone to work, and all looked lost, but for three quick substitutions.
The game turned, brinsworth were beat by five goals to two, Hannah getting 3 Hilary and Emily one a piece with Charlotte having a fine game in goals, the game was won, lady of the match went to Charlotte for an outstanding display of goalkeeping.

The next game was away again, this time at Socrates on what looked like a difficult pitch town won at a cantor.
Natalie opened the scoring with a well taken goal then Hannah stole the show scoring SIX and getting an ovation from both sets of parents when she came off with just seconds left, the final score was 7-2 with Charlie taking the L.O.M.

Next at stonelow it was the turn of chapeltown who were brushed aside with ease 8-0, Hilary and Stacy scoring four a piece, the L.O.M. going to Hilary.

Know it was time for our first ever cup game and we really wanted to win this one, Barnsley were the visitors to Dronfield and we had our first real test, Hannah scored another hat trick but Barnsley pushed us all the way. The final score was 3-2, L.O.M. went to Hilary for yet another outstanding display.

Back in league action it was off to Harworth for what was to be a very difficult day, after finally finding a grass pitch town played out of their skins to come away with a 0-0 draw and not many friends( but hey the revenge would be sweet). The lady of the match went to Stacy who took a lot of knocks but still played on until the end, a special mention must go to Natalie who did not get on today in a very tight game. (Dad said sorry)

Back at stonelow our first disappointment, winning 1-0
With just second’s left, killamarsh turned their season around with a late equaliser which felt like a defeat to town, we were gutted, but still undefeated so things were not that bad. Lady of the match was Natalie who worked tirelessly in midfield. Our goal scorer was Hilary.

So its Christmas, and we are second in the league and we still have not lost a game, this is beyond our wildest dreams; to have come so far in such a short space of time was incredible.

Next up was Worksop in the cup; this was to be our first defeat even though it took extra time for them to get the better of us.
The game was very competitive with town twice taking the lead only to be pegged back by an excellent Worksop side that eventually went all the way to the final. Towns scorers were Hannah 2 and Stacy1, the final score being 4-3 a.e.t. The L.O.M. going to Emily for her excellent display in midfield,

Back in league action we faced dale tavern and normal service was resumed, town running out 5-1 winners against a much improved tavern side. Hannah with 4 and Hilary getting 1 were the scorers. L.O.M. went to Hilary
for what was becoming a feature of the season Hilary’s phenomenal work rate.

Then I got it all wrong. I made the error of going to watch our next opponents’ sheepbridge and changed our style to try to stop them.
This was to be my biggest error of the season.
Emily scored our consolation goal in a 6-1 defeat, the only positive to come out of the game was the performance of Natalie who came on in defence when all was lost but showed real determination and fight to win the L.O.M award this was the turning point in Natalie’s season.

Next up at fortress stonelow was Socrates who were brushed aside 7-1. Hannah 3, Hilary 2,with Chloe and Lucie scoring their only goals of the season but how they enjoyed them Lucie took the L.O.M. award.

Next came our biggest shock a 1-0 defeat at chapeltown, after conceding an early goal town put the home side under constant pressure but could not find the elusive goal. Lady of the match went to Natalie for another strong defensive display.

Still back at home town were in no mood to lose two on the bounce, but came up against a very determined Thorncliffe who pushed us all the way, town scraped through 1-0 with a goal from Charlotte who also took the L.O.M. award.

Know we were fifth in the league and our chance of winning it was going away from us but we kept on believing in ourselves.
Our next game would be decisive in where we would finish in the league, away at killamarsh who haven’t looked back since grabbing that late equaliser back in December, could we put the records straight.
Town got off to good start holding their own in a close fought game, then Charlotte turned in the area to rifle home a stunning goal, but this only woke killamarsh and they were soon level, and on the stroke of half time they had the luck that turned the game, a hopeful ball looped over Emily and into the net the game had turned. And the home side eventually ran out 4-1 winners.
The L.O.M. award went to Emily who had a fine game and kept the score down.

Two nights later a rejuvenated town travelled to porter still determined not to give up on that second spot in the league. A wonderful free kick from Hannah won us the game, which was very well contested by both teams. The L.O.M award went to Maria who came on to shore up the defence and was outstanding not letting anything or any one past,a thoroughly deserved victory was taken.

With new belief it was the return fixture with sheepbridge but a slow start cost us the game, 3-0 down at halftime and the visitors had the bubbly on ice, but Dronfield found new purpose in the second half and put sheepbridge under enormous pressure but could not find the elusive goal and sheepbidge nicked an undeserved fourth and the title.
The lady of the match award went to Chloe for a truly amazing performance against one of the leagues most physical sides.

This defeat woke up Dronfield to turn in three of their best performances of the season, first up was brinsworth who came hoping for revenge for the defeat early in the season, but they found a Dronfield side in no mood to lose again this season. Town were now playing their best football of the season, the passing and movement was outstanding with all the spectators applauding every ball, the visitors were never in the game, and town ran out 2-0 winners, and the chase for third spot was on, the goal scorer was Hannah (2) and L.O.M.was Charlie, this was the performance of the season so far and was appreciated by all who saw the game.

For our last away game the trip was to Thorncliffe, this was not to be an easy game the home side were determined not to steam rolled out of the game, and fought for every ball, town put them under immense pressure but could not find away past a very good keeper.
With time running out, up popped Hannah with what was to be her last goal of the season and was celebrated wildly by all, this was a big win at a cost, just before the end Hannah limped off with what proved to be a badly bruised foot, with a game the next night against our friends from Harworth, town had to reshuffle. The lady of the match went to Megan for her commitment and attitude both on the night and for the season well done Meg you deserved the award.

So here we are, the last game of the season at home to Harworth who have to win two of their last three games to knock town out of third spot.
Town had got their sights set on victory to end the season on a high and Harworth were hardly in the game. Dronfield were again playing with purpose, style and a determination that was unbelievable after playing the night before. I was worried that tiredness would play a part, but the resolve and determination in towns game was phenomenal, when Hilary scored early in the second half there was only going to be one winner and upon the final whistle the victory was duly celebrated and a fine first seasons football had come to an end.
The lady of the match award went to our captain Charlie who has lead by example all season.
We now had to wait, Harworth still have two games to play at home to porter, and away to sheepbridge, two wins would take them above town into third. All on Thursday night had a long wait, then finally the news broke porter had won 3-1 and town had deservedly finished in the top three.

So here we are, we could never of dreamed of a season like this, if we had been told at the start we would win four games this season I would have taken it there and then, never mind only losing four games and only losing one at home.
This has been an emotional season at times, the highs and the lows have been there for us all to endure, but I must thank all of the team for their hard work and commitment this season, and also Steve and Ron for their help, I could never have done this with out them. A big thanks goes to Carole for her work in collecting all the subs in and organising the raffle for every home game. I would also like to thank our sponsors for there support this season, firstly fusion provida our shirt sponsor ,prime maintenance services for providing us with rain coats and also supporting us with the team player of the year award and finally Cablelink for their donation which allowed us to buy our own water bottles and equipment, your support is very much appreciated and we hope you have enjoyed being associated with the team this season and hope you will continue to support us in the forthcoming season.

I hope you have all enjoyed your football this season and I hope you will all be with us next season, who knows what lays ahead for us, but one things for sure we will all enjoy watching our daughters playing the beautiful game.

Thanks for your support
Kevin

PLAYER PROFILE
2004/2005

CHLOE BULLEN
Chloe came to us this season because she wanted to enjoy her football, well I would just like to say that we have enjoyed all 18 games you have played this season, you always have a smile on your face and your attitude has been excellent , playing in defence and more recently in midfield scoring 1 goal .
Chloe’s work rate is superb and I don’t remember her pulling out of a single tackle.

HILARY REES
Well where do I start, Hilary has had an outstanding season, her attitude and will to win every ball has been tremendous. Hilary must have covered every blade of grass on every pitch she has played on this season, and has also contributed 10 goals, not bad for a player who told me she could not score.

HANNAH VAUGHAN
Hannah is our leading goal scorer scoring 31 goals in league and cup; Hannah has played most of the season in midfield from where her running at defences has caused them a lot of problems. Hannah has been an asset to the team and we will miss her humour and skill next season, it has been a pleasure to coach you this season and we wish you luck with the under 16’s next year .
Keep scoring and above all keep smiling no matter what knocks you take next season.

MEGAN HOLLAND
Megan is our little dynamo, she has played to her full ability in every game, one game in particular stands out for me, away at Haworth were she never stopped in a very difficult match.
Megan has been substitute for many games but has never complained, and when she has got on to the field she has been brilliant and has never been overawed by players sometimes twice her size.

NATALIE BRADWELL
Natalie started the season in midfield before finding her natural position in defence, a position in which she has excelled in some tough games.
Natalie has given everything for the team, no matter where she has played, even scoring the odd goal which cost me £5, and being my daughter has meant she has had a hard time in some games with me pushing her all the way.
Thanks Nat for being patient with me and for all your hard work and effort this season

STACY HEWITT Stacy also joined us to enjoy her football, we again have had the pleasure of watching Stacy play some wonderful football, her 4 goals in one game against Chapeltown was brilliant. Stacy’s goals total for the season is 6. She plays the game with enthusiasm and determination. Stacy has recently been in and out of the team but has never complained and is a credit to herself and the team.

LUCIE WOOD
Lucie has been our surprise of the season she was not sure about football but caught the bug after watching our first game of the season.
Lucie has shown that she is not afraid to get stuck in and has shown that she has excellent touch and vision, some of lucie’s passing has been superb, the ball to put Hannah through against dale tavern stands out even today.

EMILY WALKER
Emily has played in 3 positions this season, centre forward scoring 3 goals, left midfield and finishing the season as our goalkeeper.
This has proved to be Emily’s natural position keeping six clean sheets.
Emily has grown in confidence with every game she has played, and controls the defence well, her bravery and positional sense is exceptional.
Emily is really enjoying her football and it is a pleasure to watch her play

MARIA COHEN
Maria is an important member of the squad although she has been a substitute in many games this season, she has been willing to learn and always tried her best in every game.
In the latter half of the season, Maria has really blossomed into a strong and capable defender who will improve with the more games she plays.
Maria was outstanding in the last three games of the season against Brinsworth she came on and battled for every ball making sure that her player never got a look in. Well-done Maria we are looking forward to seeing you develop even further over the summer, and for you to hold down a starting place in the team. Well done.

CHARLOTTE DICK
Charlotte has proved to be a very versatile member of the team playing in goals, scoring 5 goals as striker and know playing as sweeper,
In a very good defence charlotte plays with strength and reads the game very well and she has made some timely challenges to stop players getting through on goal.
Charlotte you are credit to yourself and the team keep up the good work.

LAST BUT NOT LEAST
CHARLOTTE CROWLEY
Charlie to us has had an excellent season as our captain, playing in defence all season where her encouragement and vision has been fantastic, Charlie has at times been critical of her own performance, but never of others. Charlie all I can say is you are an excellent captain and your leadership and commitment to the team is great.

and long may it continue.
Well done to everybody connected to Dronfield town u 14 girls.

THE GOLDEN BOOT

This award is an award not normally made by the club as we feel that every player does not have the opportunity to win it.
So the management of the team decided to make the award themselves.
The golden boot goes to Hannah Vaughan for scoring an amazing 31 goals in all games this season, her pace and agility has made Hannah one of the most feared players in our league.
Hannah scored four hat tricks and one double hat trick this season, the double hat trick against Socrates was rewarded by a standing ovation from both sets of parents, when she was substituted with just seconds left to play, a fitting tribute for a terrific performance.
Well-done Hannah and good luck for next season.
